  1. Can anybody please tell me what the blue is called for 50s Cad motors? Is it simply GM blue?

Two that were recommended on the Caddy board were http://www.hirschauto.com/prodinfo.asp?number=EE-QUART&variation=CAD DRK BL

    and http://www.eastwood.com/ceramic-engine-paint-qt-cadillac-dk-blue-1949-76.html

Spray cans from Eastwood were mentioned but I'm not finding them at the moment.

I need some for the Cad 500 that's going in my 71 GMC but want spray cans as the engine is already in the truck and I am going to do a "car lot' paint job on it. It's the hauler/tow rig for my hot rod and custom projects.

hirschauto.com calls it Cadillac dark blue, says it was used from '49-'76.

The GM blue that Duplicolor sells is a much lighter shade that was used in the later '70's.

I don't know if you were thinking about Duplicolor or not, but their Ford dark blue would be pretty close to accurate.

Oops, a little late. I should have refreshed before I posted.

  4. The "dark blue" used on early Fords is about the same color. Ford also used two blues, light and dark. The dark one is very close to what you need.

I only found the correct color from Bill Hirsch.
