Haha, I love how you stand higher then the cut line and Steve is at eye level.

I'm glad you decided to build this over the 'other truck cab' you had, this is going to be a killer RPU.

Love the rods with owner built honesty, just like most were built years ago.

Hahahaha....are you calling my homie short?

I agree about the change as well. This is a wayyy better direction.

I'm super stoked to be building this at my shop with Stevie, and teaching him all the goodies he needs to do his next one on his own, in his own garage. Well....that is, after he cleans it.

Looks like it's gonna be one bitchin RPU! Just how I'd like to do it, except for the E&J's (personal preference).

    UPDATE #1

Okay, so i finally got some free time to go up to Chuckles Garage to work on my ride and this is what Scotty and I got done in two days.

My 32 Frame rails finally came from Shadow Rods (which come in two pieces by the way) and our plan was to figure out how these things go together using the inner fish plate they supply with the rails.

Next, Scotty clamped the rails to his frame jig get ready for welding.

With the two halves together and the fish plate in place, we put a few spot welds to hold them in place.

laying a couple beads on each side of the fish plate on the inside of the rails.

Shown here are both rails welded on both sides ready for grinding to smooth them out on the outside.

    A lesson in technique first.

then the student has a go at it:)

    Wa-lah ...first side done.

Not happy with the results, Scotty makes sure he and i spend more time sanding the next one.

    Much better!

After finishing them, we set them on the frame jig to begin squaring them up and adding the front crossmember. Since this is going under a Model T, the frame had to be pinched very tight to fit the cowl nicely. We were actually able to pinch the frame without making any relief cuts into the frame. I wasn't sure it could be done, but Scotty had faith and it worked, starting from the front and working our way back!

Using a 32 front spreader bar to start with, the front crossmember got tacked in by Scotty, then using a level, he achieved the correct angle we needed for the stance this ride will have.

This is as far as we got! I wacked off the ends of the frame rails and we had to wait to put in the rear crossmember because it was too rusty and needed to be cleaned up a bit. I'm pretty stoked on how far we got and can't wait to head up there again next week to do some more. Thanks Scotty for all your help, advice and expertise, couldn't do this without ya:) You've got some awesome frame building skills brotha.

Thanks everyone else for all the support and comments as well, the Hamb rocks!
    cheers,
    cab

Dude....the rear crossmember will have to sandblast itself then.
