I’ve been hunting and trying to buy this car for over 4 years!!!
Found in the Los Angeles area.
It’s got a long story that I’d like to share.

The guy I bought it from bought it in 1964.
When he found it it was a chopped, shaved, bobbed rear fenders, lowered, coupe with early ford flat head running gear.
“The guy wanted to keep the flathead and I didn’t care because I had a 265 waiting at home”
He ran it for a little blowing up transmission.

Took it apart to update the running gear.
And that’s how I found it....

I got a bunch of extra early stuff that he collected over the years and the stuff that was in the car when he got it.

I’d love identify anymore history on the car.

I am ready to buy a lotto ticket!

    WOW! Outstanding find!
    What are your build plans?
Hopefully you find some history on it. The chop and handmade rear 'fender' will be the I.D. when looking at old photos. I'd start by looking at every old photo you can find of the Santa Ana drags, The Don Montgomery books also.

Any evidence of it ever being painted another color prior to yellow (once chopped) ? I see blue paint on that wooden floorboard scrap...

He doesn’t remember the color when he bought it but found some black or white.

He said he got high on acid and watched American graffiti, so his girlfriend and him painted it yellow with a brush....

Was it stored outside on it's roof like that? In Wisconsin that would have been rotted to the point the top of the cowl would be underground if it was stored like that.

Fantastic car, great find. If you can find some history on it and steer the build toward that direction, even better. The metalwork on it looks superb for the period it was done in.

The car had chrome garnish moldings and windshield frame it was a true HOT ROD.

my goal is try ha e some help identifying the car.

He said when he got the car the rear fenders were bobbed but he reshaped them.

It’s got shaved handles and rear deck lid.
The chop looks great and professional.

Someone did some nice work on that chop when it was done. That has the makings of returning to be a really nice hot rod again.

That is great! My favorite image is the one with I presume yourself with that wide grin on your face? It makes me smile to see a younger fellow so enthused over a score like that. Most fellows I know that are not old codgers ( like me) could not care less about such a vehicle. When they would realize the work involved
to bring it to the level you strive for it would be like "oh hell no"
I did pursue a 3 window 32 for a few years before being able to
acquire it for my own. (The one in my avatar or album page) I was
grinning just as wide as you were when I finally got it on a trailer
and rolled out for home. Carry on Sir!

Judging by your inspirational picture, you have some extra parts to sell to go toward the build. This should be a Good one, keep us in the loop!
