I have a 66 c10, I put a sbc in it,I had a set of headers on it but in the location the motor mounts bolted up, the passenger side header hits the a arm. There is not a ton of room due to starter, a arm, and frame. I saw some rear swept headers on computer looked like they might work. Has anybody used them? The photo shows the space on passenger side, the center drop headers are the ones I pulled off. Wouldn't it be best to just order a set of headers made for a '66 C-10 ?

you have the engine in the wrong place. The frame brackets for the motor mounts are supposed to be in the rear position. The 67-72 trucks had the engine in the forward position, like yours is set up.

at least that's what it looks like from what I can see. If you hold the camera back a bit further so we could see more of the engine, frame and firewall, might be easier to see.

Had a set in a 66GMC with SBC, headmans, as I recall. Should be the same?

If the engine were in the rear holes only 1 of the lower mount holes line up.

It would move the engine back approximately 1.5 to 2 inches

I can't see what brackets you have. There are several different ones, for different engines in different years. The 292 six engine has one mount forward, one back. Both mounts on the 230-250 from 63-72 are back. Both mounts on the V8 in 63-66 are back, but in 67-72 are forward. It's complicated.

I bought the aftermarket tube style mounts. The original was a 250

When I had the 350 in it I had a set of Patriot headers on my 71 GMC The right side came down like this as viewed from the bottom side

It's too dark now to go out and get a photo of the header.

I've got Headman headers on my 64 C20. They fit fine with no interference. They don't look anything like your pictures. I went on their web site and it appears they only go back to 1967 now.

through 66 truck used straight drop rams horns, the 67 up trucks used the angled back rams horns to clear the A arm, since they moved the engine forward.

It may be. When I put the engine in the aftermarket mounts have 2 holes in top and 2 in bottom, I had it toward the back at first, only 1 hole lined up on the bottom, when I moved it forward both all holes lined up, so that's where I put it.

Thanks for all the help, I found a video on YouTube that confirms the forward holes are for 67 and later, the rear holes are for 60-66. You learn something every day. I am glad we have the hamb and great people willing to help!

The center dump headers will definitely not work. Moved the engine back to the rear position, headers are setting on the a arm and very close to the starter and trans pan. Not sure any center dump exhaust will work, not sure there is enough room to bend a pipe out???

Why do you have an aftermarket crossmember for the mounts, instead of the original mount brackets?
