The "ready to drive" date has changed a half dozen times over the last few months. The latest slated date was to make the Hunnert Car Pileup. With the unrelenting help of fellow hamber Jaker and nonHamber Chris, we achieved the latest goal. This past Friday I got the T working done enough to drive. Jaker and I took it for a quick little 10 mile drive Friday night and deemed it ready to go to the Pileup. Sat morning we left for the show. We met up with the rest of the WI crew about 1/3rd of the way there. At that point I picked up a willing rider...Tuck. Other than killing the battery due to faulty charging circuit the ride (about 90mi) went flawlessly. The show ROCKED! The ride home was another story. Mid 40's and sheets of rain the entire way home made for a stressful and cold ride. Lemme just say that the Nailhead, cheater slicks, and posi are not a all weather combo. Considering the miserable weather on the way home, the overall trip went really well. I am pretty pumped up on the way the car turned out. It still needs interior and I need to lay some lines on it. Stuff to do next spring. For now I'm gonna drive it. Here's what I started with. Here's how it turned out.
HOLY SHIT!!! What a difference!!! It went from John Travolta to Johnny B Goode in grand fashion!! Wicked cool....that T-bucket KICKS ASS!!!
Un-frick'n believable! Man, what insite. What creativity. What madness. That thing is waaay Kwuoool. Where did you see this from that?
Great job CAS. Sounds like some of these other guys shoulda stayed in the '70's. I'm glad "fad T" days are over. Here's my T........
The wheel combo looks very odd . One or the other please. I can't say I like it that much, but there are some points I do like about it. But it's yer car so enjoy it.
Love the body! Needs White interior and some matching wheel IMHO... But nice werk...Fad Tees SUck. MAIKI
[ QUOTE ] with moon wheel covers... [/ QUOTE ] I am all about that! Love the car craig! Screw those 70's dorks! TDC
the www and steelies look great!! i think many of the opposed coments come from seeing how some what aquard the whell tire combo looks
CAS, thanks for posting the pics, and thanks for the ride to the pile up... that car RULES, its awesome to hear it run, idle and rip off thru stopsigns etc... ASIAN beetles at 70mph hurt... stay away from dump trucks and gravel trucks. make sure its not gonna rain. make sure your helmet stays tight on your head! Looking forward to hanging out with you again. Tuck
I really like the T, especially the nailhead... but... I think you need to go a little further with the 60's race car look. It would be even more bitchin with 10 spoke magnesium American spindle-mounts on the front (with brakes adapted), some white striping to match a white roll & pleat interior, quick-release headlights, and good ol' fashioned shoe polish # and class designation written on the body behind the door. Just my opinion....as I said, I really like what you've done so far.
Bass...wow dude you've read my mind. Those are pretty much the plans for it. Except the 10 spokes. I've had a go at them and haven't been able to come up with the bux. The Fentons will have to work for now. The other stuff isn't done yet 'cause I was dying to drive it! Gimme 'til spring. I'm having fun now and soon the snow will fly. Rocky...I've got the old spokes and tires. Sorry Bleed's got the rears and the frontend was sold for $$. Thanks to everyone else for the kind words. And if you don't like it (or like the old version better) screw you ! Say what ya want I built it for myself.
cas, so when does the "how to paint flake like cas" book come out? I'm just totally stoked over it. how about a class on painting?
PBR...You're talking to the wrong dude. I'm not a paint pro. Try Tuck or Bob or PasoJohn or...soooo many others on the HAMB. I'm just a goofball trying to do everthing on my own.
I can dig it, totally rad, the slot mags rulke. My first ride in a Hot Rod was in a T bucket at the age of 16. It left a mark on my psyche that won't soon be erased. Perhaps THE best ride of my life. What's the flake color? It's sweet!
[ QUOTE ] I'm not a paint pro [/ QUOTE ] Your right on the money with the heavy metal flake and the T looked GREAT!! Now your a T PRO
CAS is a pro, he knows what hes doing let him fool you not... there were no signs, NO SIGNS of bad body work or sand scratch swelling, or any typical flaws of any sort... it was PERFECT. Good job dude Tuck
