I was at a friends house yesterday and we went into one of his buildings looking for some parts. He has M/T valve covers for pontiac, chevy, sb and BB, olds, buick, ford, and that's just what I could see. Offenhauser sb chevy and Cal Custom sbc. This pile was laying by a restored Model A 4 door. In another building he had a 40N, I think, restored John Deere tractor. Tractors don't really interest me but he turned on the gas and hit the starter and it started right up. He's got parts he doesn't even know he's got. It impressed me to see all the old valve covers that didn't have holes cut all over like you mainly see now.

I didn't take any, the electric was out in the building, I was looking with the flash light on my phone. I've never seen that many at a swap meet.

At the swap meet there was free candy in an old valve cover.

Better than soup in an oil pan, I suppose.

  8. I cant understand why anyone would put holes in the valve covers. Its not that difficult to hook up a PCV and or oil fill-breather without ruining a set of valve covers.

I have a buddy with a zillion sets of vette covers that had been drilled.
I asked him why not take the extra step to hook up pcv. His response was that he was 19 years old and vette covers weren't special back then. They were a readily available part number.

I'll ask him, which ones are you interested in? I"ve seen people have 2 breathers per side, you name it. Most of the time it was to try to cure a worn out motor that was blowing oil out every where.

As for the purpose of this thread I was impressed to see that many sets in one place still around, also if someone on here buys 1 set and gets a deal, I figure it would be worth my effort. I'm not making crap out of these, just trying to help other hot rodders out, if that offends you don't read the tread.
