Well, we haven't yet, but we're about to....

If you don't know what it is all about, here's some data...

"There is no event quite like Drag Week. Driving your vehicle 1,000 miles in five days while racing at four different dragstrips along the way..."

    Sunday Sept. 11
    Heartland Park, Topeka, KS
8am to 2pm CDT: Registration and MSD Test 'n Tune

    Moday, Sept. 12
Day 1 Racing: 9am to noon Heartland Park, Topeka

    Tuesday, Sept. 13
Day 2 Racing: 9am to noon SRCA Dragstrip, Great Bend, KS

    Wednesday, Sept. 14
Day 3 Racing: 9am to noon Amarillo Dragway, Amarillo, TX

    Thursday, Sept. 15
Day 4 Racing: 9am to noon Tulsa Raceway Park, Tulsa, OK

    Friday, Sept. 16
Day 5 Finals: 3pm to end Heartland Park, Topeka

We will be driving BP's 53 Ford and pulling a small trailer.

I'd like to start getting a list of HAMBer's who are along the way, just in case we suffer some sort of catastrophic failure.

If you live close to one of the sites, or along a logical path between those sites, and don't mind helping a couple dumb Okie's out, should we need it, then I'd Love a PM from you. We don't have much money but BP is way more flexible than he looks, has a buckskin belly, rubber rectum, and almost no gag reflex.

    Almost.

    This should be a hoot!

I'll do my best to keep the board updated as we go.... I'll have to figure the best way to do this via Android....

I'm in Amarillo. I'm also planning on being at Drag Week as well.. I'm even skipping classes to head over there. :D

I'm not too knowledgeable on mechanics but I sure would like to be in the company of a couple HAMBers.

How about anyone who's participating put up a couple shots of their cars so I know what to look for? I'll wear a HAMB shirt so it makes things a little easier.

  4. Friggin awesome.

It would be fun just to go and watch this guy run 6's and 200mph and then drive 1000+ miles...

    Unbelieveable.

Watch it at the 2minn mark!

And he doesn't pull a trailer or change tires...

Got pics of the car you'll be in?

Very cool.......I met D.F. & Keith Turk @ the first (?) dragweek in KC @ KCIR......I drove the roadster p/u & I was on a quick lunch break wearing a 'fancy collar' shirt......haha......It was a cool event for even my lunch break. If you need anything, call/text my cell phone and I can put the word out for ya' on the "web".

    Go Man Go!

    Chris

Oh yea, do you have a shot of the vehicle? And Jen want's to know if you will have 'Jello shots' from Mama' Rash.

Squirrel and TexasSpeed, it will be good to meet ya! We're hoping for minimal wrenching...

Sam, Yeah, that dude is amazing. He must have a lot of seat time in that thing.

Sod, No Jello shots. Tracy and have been so busy that neither of us even thought about having them at the drags. In fact, when Jenn asked at the drags, Tracy and I just looked at each other with that, "how in the world did we forget to do that" look.

I don't think Jello shots will mix with the activity level of this event too well....

  7. Maybe some tacos will work. Good luck and have a ball.

I would suggest you contact EnginePro5X. He runs a speed/resto shop in Hillsboro, KS, which is SW of Topeka. I have a hunch you may be going right past him on the way to Great Bend.

Povertyflats sure the hell couldn't help with mechanical issues, but he knows damn near everybody and would be a great resourse. He travels quite a bit of Kansas for his part-timer job and knows his way around very well.

Keep your eyes open for a bunch of Aussies. They have been coming to America for Drag Week since 2007. We ran together then and they stay a week before and a week after with us. They will have a white 1963 Dodge 440 sedan and a red Mercury Capri, right-hand drive, that is a 1973(?). Good blokes and great shade-tree mechanics.

15 minutes east of Topeka, here in Lawrence. If we cant help fix the car, we'll at least bring comic relief to those whut are broked down.

I am going to try to make it to Great Bend to watch.

we cant get help like towing for anything like that but we can for sure get help finding parts and places to do repairs... they keep a pretty tight eye on getting help...

Best of luck to all involved!

Wishing that I could get out for something like that but it really sucks to be broke.

We expect a lot of pics to live this vicariously!

I hope to have a car I can bring to drag week on day. (had to run in the low 11's before I would even consider) since it is a long roll from the west coast).

please take some pictures of the rides (especially any vega's).. ...

    have fun
