I've read here about using the center of one wheel and welding it into an wider rim. What is the best way to remove the center from the donor wheel? Thanks. Sylvanus

The link in the above post is excellent. The only thing I would do different is to drill the valve stem hole BEFORE painting the wheel.

If its an old wheel, drill the rivets out and press/pound out the center. If its welded, you would have to have the welds cut on a lathe.

  5. For drilling out the rivets, I found that using a drill press is the easiest way. Make a simple fixture to hold the wheel.

I used a plasma cutter to cut the center out, just another option.
