I have a Model A radiator that was used in a hot rod with a small block chevy. I will probably use those tanks, then have a 4 row core put in, heavily chopped as i chopped the grille shell 5 1/2".
Yeeah, well the paintjob will have to wait. The goal of this season will just be to have it running and have a lotta fun with it, and also fix everything that will break.
Ya I hear ya. I'm workin my ass off on my sport coupe Sony can try to drive it at least a little bit this summer. But with school, work, wife and kids it's a little hard sometimes
We bled the brakes yesterday, had some problem with some fittings that was leaking. Also had to replace a brand new mastercylinder. Anyways, it's all good now and we put the body and bed on last night. Gonna bolt the steering on tonite and start making brackets for the seats.
So, got a little done this weekend. For some reason the brakes won't keep the pressure, so we'll look into that this week. Put some simple ACE hardwara latches on the inside of the doors to prevent falling out. Crude but it works. Started working on the generator brackets, and hope to finish that shortly. Takin the radiator to the shop today. It'll be a small one, with a total height of 17"! Hope this summer won't get too hot. Getting my draglink to the steering and pitman arm tig welded today. Using a mix of 1955 Ford F100, and '37 Chevy for the pitman arm and draglink. Put some SW gauges in the dash, and two fiberglass buckets out of a '31 roadster, old race car. Had to slice them up brutally and lean up the back to make em fit. This weeks mission is to find some headlight buckets, taillights and carb linkage.
This is a cool looking ride... but I guess it is just me... But it looks like the bed is useless as far as a truck goes. I think i am missing something here. Why build a hot rod truck like this, if you can't use the bed? I am just getting into this hobby and I have a shoebox, but where I come from (NM) trucks — even the hot rod ones — are used for hauling. Regardless... I still like the ride your building. Subscribed.
Well first of all, we are not building it to haul things with. We built a truck because we happened to stumble over it and the price was right.. We will of course have place on the truck bed for tools and camping attire, as we love to camp in the beautiful California surroundings!
Nice looking hot rod truck! I really wanna do something like this but keep the fenders and running boards and lower it a bit for a good stance.

Works for me. I always wanted to build a hot rod truck. I envisioned hauling' my motorcycle or the family bicycles or camping stuff as well. I could never find a truck in good enough shape for the right price and then I ran across the shoebox i purchased.

Got some stuff done during the weekend. Dash gauges and tach on place, shifter with linkage on place. Decided to go with slanted '39 taillights, and installed one. As we only had one Made a cheap grille insert that'll work for now. Chopped the windshield frame. Next on the to do list is a transmission cover, driveshaft, finish the draglink and a radiator.. No sleep til midnight!
Summer is here, and i realized that rebuilding all 4 carbs, and tuning them as well as building a working linkage would just take way too long. So, got ahold of a Weiand intake with 3 rebuilt carbs the other day. Had some rods laying around and built a working linkage last night. Now it's time for radiator and driveshaft!
It's running..running great! Took about a year, only using spare time and a very limited budget. It just feels great driving by the cops, open headers and slicks and not getting pulled over. Hard to get used too. Looking forward to a summer of lotsa driving.
X2 with Larry. Really like the bed length, you nailed that. Looking forward to seeing this painted. So if I am reading this right, you are going to replace the americans with chrome reversed? Or chromies all around? What are the plans color-wise? I like the expanded metal grill insert just fine, very late fifties. Once its painted, paint the insert a contrasting candy color, it'll look tits.
