So I've had my 52 customline for about 3 years, I have some pictures of replacing the bottom 6 inches inner and outter and shaving some stuff in my profile. I've been tired of looking at the stock grille and finally pulled the plug on building one for it. I'm using a basket of Packard bumperettes I got at the Elkhorn swap meet a couple years ago. So far it looks like the only f'n around ill have to do is modifying the splash pan to fit em all the way across. Tonight I removed the stock grille, painted the center support black and cleaned and polished half the bumperettes. I'll post some more pictures as I work on it, let me know what you think.

Yah----that looks like it will work fine. I'll be watching---my bud has a '52 Vic with a '54 Chev grille. I never did care for the stock grille.

Sorry but it's just not doing it for me. It looks too heavy for the car. Just my opinion.

They're too tall for my taste. Maybe if you cut the bottoms off of each one to fit the bottom pan and to give yourself 2" or so of gap between the top of the teeth and bottom of the shell, it could work (easy photoshop) but I'm not loving the look of it as-is.

My '52 has a tube grille in it, looks decent but I had considered a '55 Ford center section that would use the '52 parking lights, there's a famous old custom '52 that used that setup and looked really good.

Exactly, tryin to think outside the box. I'm likin the way it looks with hubcaps, so next thing is clearancing the splash pan to fit the outter teeth.

Sweet Car... But those teeth remind me of that little Dude on Trilogy of Terror.. a 54 Pontiac Grill would look great in the front..

Got the gravel guard out, the bumper back on, flipped the bumperettes upside down and lowered em from the grille surround a little. I dig it...

Well, I'm taking a break from the grille to think it over and do my front and rear Jamco suspension. I'll post some pics of the suspension as I go too.

I like this angle better, but it still feels like the teeth are too tall. I think if you whacked about 2" off the bottom of each one and bolted them flat to the pan on the bottom, it could work. If you can shoot a clean, head on pic of it right now, I can photoshop it.

As is, I still feel like they're too big, too overpowering.

Can you take a picture head on outside from maybe 15 ft back? Your pics are hard to get a full feel it. I am not giving up on you yet, like it matters, but to me so far the teeth are to far apart, and too tall. I think the height is the biggest obstacle.

Good luck and thank you for sharing the journey.

  29. looks way better, i like it... still think maybe pulling teeth in like an inch or so in tho

I think they look great! I like big teeth! Can you push them back just an inch still?
