I am building a ‘32 Ford roadster. I have a body, 283SBC with tri-power and Muncie 4- speed, 4” dropped front axle and a quick change rear with juice brakes. What I don’t have is a chassis by and big/little tires. The question centers on the chassis. I read about Z ing the rear or C-notching the rear. If I purchase ASC rails what should be done with the rear section? Thank you
If you're running a Quick Change, you have a choice of Model A spring and crossmember or Coil over shocks. You will also have to decide what to do about a Gas Tank. A total stock tank isn't going to get it.
P.S. If you're lucky enough to have a Q.C. the last thing you should do is hide it in front of the Gas Tank. That said worrying about C notch or not would not be anything concerning me. With the proper stance so the Q.C. can be seen from behind you will have plenty of Frame to Housing space and you will not have any contact issues. You will learn all this if you do proper mockup before you start actually welding any of your Chassis together. Do your homework and plan way ahead of what your hands are doing. It's all about the Look, then make it work as a package first time around.
Lots of quick change rear cars wind up using the A rear crossmember with a T rear spring to get a lower stance. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...on-a-32-frame-with-quick-change-rear.1008483/
