didn't have much time this weekend to work on the roadster. yesterday was my sister's 40th birthday, and today i've spent the afternoon on schoolwork after a morning at the ty-rods show.

i did get the tank in and fuel lines hooked up. it's kinda good news, bad news. tank holds fuel, good. lines hold fuel, good. carb gets fuel, good. carb pisses fuel like an incontinent elephant, bad.

i have another carb i'll swap over. maybe after class tomorrow. getting closer. but my dream of having it at Alter Boys show seems to be dwindling.

i feel sorta silly posting this, cuz i don't really like being the center of attention, and there are a lot of people way more worthy of movies made about their talents. but it does articulate in a well edited sort of way the "why" i even keep going out to the garage.

i also learned i need to ride my bike more.

Dude, don't hold back! I need a decklid, or that is, a better decklid inner. I need a hookup!

Edit: Oh, and I can't wait to check out the vid, at home. I don't have speakers at my desk.

Mark....that was the best, 12 minutes of my day. That was so great to get to and hear why you love all of this so much. I really liked hearing about your Dad and the legacy of this old car insanity that he left you. Too cool man...I think that you really explained it all very well for you and for many of us. Thanks for sharing that. Oh....and the "Silver City" looks even sexier in the movies!!!!

depends whether i can mess with the carb and get it running. if it's running under it's own power, i'd love to find a way to get it there, but i won't drive it all that way.

so we'll see. anyone from down my way got a trailer? hmmm...

oh man. i wish it was. going thru some family stuff i'll tell you about off the record. it really doesn't need much. i need a day in the shop, maybe with a 2nd set of hands. but i haven't slept in my own bed for a while, let alone spent time in the shop.

had a few minutes in between catching up on yard work today. managed to set the damn thing on fire again.

the curse of the Silver City Special: electrical fires.

we're on duty at Becky's mom's again tonight and tomorrow, but I don't have classes Monday cuz of the holiday, so I'll be back on it again then to see if I can figure out why I'm so bloody thick.

Like I said elsewhere...get rid of the ammeter.

Either it's another bad gauge, or you've got it wired wrong, but with so few wires on that thing, there's no reason there should be cooked wires!

def not wired wrong, unless i'm looking at it and making the same mistake over and over.

could be a dead short somewhere i guess. but with the problem seemingly relegated to wires above the term box, it seems likely that the gauge is the issue. i'll just make a jumper wire and put in a fuse between starter and cutoff.

So I know I'm wired up right, and i put in a jumper to eliminate the ammeter. When I attached the ground wire to battery, the jumper fried. So, same problem as with the ammeter, which means I must have a short somewhere. But I can't find it!

It's only a Model A. What the heck can I possibly be doing wrong?!

Which diagram are you using, the top one, I assume?

Assuming it's wired exactly like the top diagram. I'd narrow the problem to the junction box, first. If it were me, I'd test it with my meter.

Once that's eliminated (as a problem), I'd move on.
