What other alternatives do I have other than rebuilding the rear lever shocks on a '55 Buick Special? It doesn't look like there's alot of room for tube style. Anyone run into this before? What was your solution?

I put tube shocks on my 55. Welded a big bolt on the bottom, drilled a big hole (by hand) at the top by the spring. Not much room. It still rides WAY too soft, and I would like to re-do it, but I was in a hurry at the time.
