I bought a Brookville Model A frame with a 2" kick up and am getting ready to drop my 28 sedan body on it. Before I get out my cut off wheel and saw could anyone who has done this PLEASE throw up some pics of how you stepped the rear area of your floor? This is my first build and I am struggling.
At the kick up area, wouldn't the body just bolt to the frame. The rest of the frame uses wooden 2" thick body mounting blocks between the frame and body to mount the body. The kick up area of the "hot rod" frame just eliminates the use of the wooden blocks in the kicked up area, that are needed on a stock model A frame without a kick up. Don't cut up you body. Get a model A body mounting wood block kit!
If this is your first build, you would benefit greatly from Mike Bishop's book: "How to build a traditional Ford Hot Rod". Worth every penny. Here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/Build-Traditional-Ford-Motorbooks-Workshop/dp/0760309000 I've added a pic I borrowed from Amazon's preview to answer your question. Hope Mike doesn't mind!
The pictures in Mike Bishops book are of a stock frame kicked up 2 inchs. Most reproduction frames today are narrowed at the rear so the subrails normally do not trimming. I've sold a lot of kicked and narrowed A chassis over the years with no mounting problems.
