I do not do this well, but I have not found a thread for this very sad news.

Brett and the Iron Mistress have participated in several HAMB Drags events. He will be missed.

I got to see him run at the HAMB Drags and from what I understand was a great guy.

Very sorry to hear of his passing. Condolences to his family and friends.

  5. Really a freak accident. He shut down and opened chutes just before the lights. Car retired on its own at full throttle and Brett was unable to get it stopped.
My thoughts and prayers to his family

Sad deal for sure-RIP. Their presence at the Meltdown with the Iron Mistress and I believe Big Iron the AFX Plymouth were always a big hit, IMO. Condolences to his family.

Absolutely Terrible , these kinds of things happen but you put them out of your mind for the most part as a driver. My sincere condolences to Brett's family and friends. No more can you say but, Godspeed Brett. Steve.

I read about the wreck the day it happened. He was responsive to the rescue crew which gave me hope he would be OK. It was very sad to hear he didn't make it.

It wasn't JUST that the engine refired on it's own...
If you look at the photo taken just as the chutes are near full blossom, the entire car is coated in oil. From the front of the engine to the spray heading to the rear tires. His face shield is fully coated (lifted), even his face and the glasses he had on are soaked in oil.

    Bad deal.

My wife and I were there too and she tried to keep us up with his condition on social media, it seemed hopeful at first but when the news finally came out we were both heartbroken. God's peace to his family, we will all miss him.
