Ok, I was ready to quote this before I got to the Frank Mack roadster. What I was going to say and still will is: who, other than Frank Mack, ran E&J lights back when our traditions were established? To me 'traditional' parts are those that were 'the done thing.' I'm sure someone can dig out a photo of some odd example, but other than Frank's left field application BITD, I don't see E&J's as traditional. Old yes, traditional, no. And I have always loved Frank's car, despite the E&J's
For my money, they work on the Mack car because the rest of the car is so slick especially the nose and hood. So if you take that, and then ask yourself how "slick" a stand-up '32 grill and hood are, you can probably read between the lines, nudge, nudge, wink, wink... But then I have always been big on the "horses for courses" approach, rather than the "pile of cool but incongruous parts" approach that seems to be so popular.
To be honest, I didnt open the blog till now(I wont say why), just looked at the front 3/4 shot Ryan led with.
All of those strong opinions... From one photo?!? I hate the Internet. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
What strong opinions? About Frank Macks car? I havent said one word directly about the '32 you posted. Not one. I just went back and read my posts to make sure. I dont really need to look at more photos of the Frank Mack car, I have been looking at photos of it for 45 years, its pretty clear in my mind at this point...
That's cuz I'm stupid and had the comments of another member in my head when I saw your reply. Told ya - I hate the internet. Sorry sir.
Thanks Ryan. No problem, If I had a dime for every time I got posts mixed up on here, I'd have at least $2.50...
Just thinking again about "tradition" and cool. This 32 with all the cool stuff was built in the 70's. Frank Mack's roadster was built in the 40's Here we all are talking about both eons later and they both still generate tons of interest. Why they do that is because the guys who built them built what they liked, NOT what the other guys thought they should. There isn't a "street rod" in the world that can hold anybody's interest for 10 minutes, but here we are discussing stuff that happened 40-70 years ago, and we all still have enough interest in it to talk about it. I'm proud to be a part of this group of guys that Get It!
