Technical Brake system time...check my work

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by JK, Feb 20, 2019.

  1. Got some parts this week for my Merc. Just wanted to see if what I have will work together.

M/C - 75-78 Ford MC 15/16" bore and Stock Merc underfloor pedal. MC is mounted to fatman fab MC relocation bracket.

    Front system:
2LB residiual Press valve (close as possible to the MC)
    Hold -off/metering valve
    mid 80's chevy celebrity calipers

    Rear system:
10LB residiual pressure valve (close as possible to MC)
Proportioning valve (with ports for front half blocked off, didn't realize I could get one with a single in single out till later)
9" rear end with quick performance drum brakes

    All line will be 3/8"

How does this sound for a system? I'm open to all suggestions and/or improvements.

you meant 3/16" brake line size?

3/8 line??? 3/16 or 1/4 inch are generally used. I use 3/16 on all my builds.

I have basically the same brake system in my '31. Bigger than 3/16" isn't needed for stock brakes. Make sure to check the lever ratio for manual brakes.

  5. Yes, 3/16". Sorry I've had a busy day.
