Orange, CA - In the heart of Orange County (the real one, not where dysfunctional families build ugly Choppers). We have a ton of Hot Rod Shops - THAT's TOO FUNNY. lol
Ventura, CA. The best thing is the climate, I like to call it perfect. The average temp' is 75 degrees, it rarely gets 10 degrees hotter or colder. Year round sun, 12 months of roadster weather. One hour North of LA so it's no problem to go down for any car event or see a band and get back home out of the rat race. Let's see, at the fairgrounds we have....Primer Nationals, Back to the beach show, sprint car racing, vintage flattrack racing, vintage motorcycle swapmeet, Chopperfest, and bi monthly flea markets. There is a very healthy car scene throughout the county with numerous local annual shows and monthy cruise nights. Many local car building shops. The crime rate is low and the people are nice. 2 hours to Bakersfield, 1 1/2 to Pomona. Miles of beaches, year round surf, best in the winter. Expensive compared to other parts of the country but worth every penny! I can't think of a better place to live anywhere in the world!!
My home town of Rock Springs, Wyoming, has more strip joints per capita than Las Vegas. We have around 30,000 people, 2 porn shops, 3 titty bars, and another strip joint only 12 miles away. We also are mentioned on pretty much every meth documentary I've seen in the last year. You don't get much cooler than that, this is the REAL Wyoming, mot that bullshit you see on post cards. Anyone looking to vacation?
Don't forget to add that the chicks at the strip clubs are real snags...not the top shelf miami, las vegas, or los angeles type strippers...
True, but, who wouldn't want to see a stripper with a peg leg, one eye, and a gunt? That's all part of the fun. You should see the one pick up all of her dollars off the stage with her hook, that's worth the five dollar admission right there.
Rural Ohio has plenty of areas that you could plan many weeks around. Tuscarawas, Sugarcreek and surrounfing areas specifically. Here's my historic hometown who caters to tourists. http://ohsweb.ohiohistory.org/places/ne10/index.shtml http://www.zca.org/home.html http://www.thekeepingroombandb.com/ Great roadtrip! See post.. http://jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=214004&highlight=covered+bridges
Kansas...it's not just cows and wheat. Right were I-70 and I-435 meet you will find your self in an up and coming part of Kansas City, KS. This little part of Kansas has been growing fast over the last couple of years and has things for everyone just in this little area! First off the main thing there is Kansas Speedway, sure the races are fun to go see but as most know that is were GoodGuys Mid Western Nationals are held. Although if you are a married man you might want to bring a trailer cause there is some major shopping that can be done in Kansas City! Just across the street from the speedway there are numerous stores. Nebraska Furniture Mart is one of the more popular stores, but there is also a Cabela's for all you out doors men. Also there is the Legends Shopping Center. For the kids there is only one if the coolest hotels ever. The Great Wolf Lodge is a large hotel with an indoor water park so just dump your kids there while your wife shops and you enjoy the car show. There is also plenty of restaurants and bars around to chill at after a long day. I made all the names i listed a direct link to there website
DeMotte, Indiana... the armpit of the midwest. A stones throw from Roselawn, Indiana.... where there are two nudie camps within a mile of each other...
westfield massachusetts, the town I grew up in was originally known as "The Whip City" 90% of the worlds whips were made there. It also just so happens to be Henry ford's first choice for the location of his factories. The town wouldn't let him though. The band Staind was formed in Westfield where the drummer, Jon Wysocki's mother taught me fourth grade.
Some of the towns you've poted sound like there is some great stuff to investigate! And well thanks for the warning on others. LOL Anyone who has some awesome photos to go along with a road trip feel free to submit them to me to my personal email. Keep them coming! Lea
If your ever travlin the SoCal hi desert off interstate 15 between Barstow and Vegas is the town of Baker, Ca. Home of the worlds tallest thermometer, a must for your "list of things to do before you die" list! Seriously, I would love to travel historic route 66 before I die
How about area , i live about 45 minutes south of Chicago , 20 minutes from Morris ,IL where the Hunnert is held yearly . 5 minutes from joliet Speedway where there holding more car shows and swaps lately . 10 minutes from Frankfort , IL where every thursday all summer there is a car show cruise night of different themes where quite a few hundred cars stop by . New Lenox is a great hub to these locations .
Hartville, Ohio. Home of what seems like the biggest god damned flea market on the right coast! Heavy traffic and congestion during all summer months. The Amish are hairy and smell funny, and there ain't a beer in any store or restaurant! There is a pipe company here, and there is enough loose pipe to reach from here to NYC. I hope that's how they intend on getting the booze to Hartville.
Here in Sandy Utah we have Mormons, alot of Mormons!! where I used to live in southern Utah was better, polygamists!! need a few more wives?!?!?
Well, Oakdale is the "Cowboy Capital of the World"...other than that it's just a place to grab a bite to eat on the way to Yosemite
