My dad's buddy had an unrestored bone stock 34 Ford Coupe and Boyd Cottington was interested. So my dad's buddy, Kenny, said hed sell to him(Cottington) for the big money. I dont know what the price was but it was lots of money. Site unseen Boyd said he would buy it and send a check with his representative that was coming to pick it up. Kenny told Boyd he didnt want a check he wanted cash. So Boyd says somethin like ,Do you know who I am? Im Boyd Cottington!, and Kenny says, i dont give a shit who you are, i want cash. So Boyd got pissed off and hung up the phone. 3 Days later boyd called back and said he'd send the cash with the guy to pick up the car.

    True Story.

  2. I wouldn't take a check from Boyd COTTINGTAIL or Chip FLOOSE. Never heard of him, is he supposed to be famous like Boyd Coddington? [IMG]

What abomination is he going to turn that poor, virgin coupe into? Why can't these people confine their butchery to fiberglass??

O, im sorry, i forgott to mention this was a while back. Before Boyd went bankrupt. My dad and Kenny saw the car finished and it was pretty much a normal, high dollar street rod.....that he sold to some clueless person for 100grand+++++.

Or perhaps Boyd Kottingdon, the well-known Dutch author? [IMG]

  9. Did the car have dual side mount spare tires?

If it did, it turned out to be a killer car. High dollar - but killer still.

Wow, you guys are funny, i never thought there could be so many variotions a name. [IMG] And Harrison, no, i dont think it had the spare tires. And this happened in like the early 80's and i think Boyd bought the car from Kenny for like 18,000 dollars.

  16. Knew a guy here in town that was the local "Bigtime" streetrodder. Been in magizines and even bought a truck off Boyd back in the 80's. HE used to call him Boyd Codingham, thinking he was pronouncing it correctly. I guess you had to be there [IMG]

Roadstar, that is pretty funny, we all know one of those clowns. I wonder if Boyd had any problems cashing the check for Mr. Coddingham.

I know lotsa people like slammin Chip Foose, but I do know that when Boyd was going under Chip used his own money to keep the shop going long enuff to pay the employees and get the customer cars done while Boyd shows up one day in a new Porsche. Also Chip lost a bunch a money in stock that Boyd was paying him with cuz Boyd lied when Chip wanted to sell the shares. Next he knows they shop goes under. You may not like his style but the guy does some awsome work and does not have an ego...Just my 3 cents...Danny PS Boyd is a DORK!!!!

No, a shilling is the thing over your head when you lay awake with the bed spins, the shilling fan is also connected to it.

Boyd came to the UK a few years ago, bought a scooter for his son from a mate of mine. Paid cash, my mate said he would ship it.
Never shipped it then sold it again.
He got double bubble, Boyd got screwed…….

PFF, remind me never to buy a scooter from your mate.

Actually a shilling is what you get to after boiling a bunch of crabs.

I have a buddy that designed a set of one off wheels at Boyd's trailer at Goodguys Indy last year (02). He paid him 2500 bucks down (about half) and is supposed to pay the rest when the wheels are done. I last talked to him at Louisville (03) and he still hadn't gotten the rims. Boyd kept telling him "Next Month". A lawyer will be stepping in if Boyd doesn't come through. I think that a year wait is a little extreme. I'd be in a hell of a hurry to make 5 grand.
