Does anybody make an adaptor to adapt a Buick/Olds/Pontiac bolt pattern to early Ford transmission? I've found about every other motor to early Ford. Thx

  2. I’m sure someone made one but I’ve never seen one. Good luck in your search. Might put an ad in the wanted section of the classifieds.

  3. Early Buick, olds, Pontiac and caddy engines had adaptors to flathead trans.

I'm looking to adapt a 1968 472 Caddy. I think the older bolt pattern is different?

I was recently looking for an oddball setup and found many videos on YouTube for making your own. Probably the route I'm going to take. Might be an option for you.

    An example:

You’d most likely have to use an early Ford to SBC adapter with the SBC to BOP adapter stacked on it.

I saw one at a swap meet a couple years ago, but it was an old Trans-Dapt.

  9. Worse comes to worse, get a SBC to early Ford one, bolt it to the BOP trans case, where the holes are in the same location, and fab the pieces you need to meet the BOP bolt holes. Weld them together, and "Bop"'s your uncle.

there is a later style flathead trans.
Which flathead trans are you using.

  13. Not sure if symmetrical, might just bolt to back of bare block, and fit up that way..
I took a quick look at dual pattern bellhousing I have here, and think the bottom bolts and dowel pins are in same place between the 2 families.

  15. I cant imagine an early 3 speed will last more than 5 seconds behind a 472" motor with 375hp and a whopping 525 torque stock.

Does the 472 Caddy have the same pattern as the BOP engines? The BOP pattern is unusual with the two "ears" up the top. My son has a thin (1/8"maybe) plate which mates his 455 Olds to a Chev TH400 so if your Caddy is BOP this would work for you. Don't know where he got it but he's not using it now as he's got a BOP trans. I could ask him.

67 and later Cadillacs use the BOP bolt pattern.
