i land speed racing light weight is not a concern. You want to be a little on the heavy side. I did it more for detail than anything

  2. There are some roadsters in the 3000# range and some doorslammers upwards of 5000

    Amazing work.
Thank you for taking the time to post up the progress pics.

Could you show and explain how you are mounting the fiberglass body?

It will be mounted with 6 Dzus fasteners so the body can be be removed easily to work on the car

Got the hood blister trimmed, but welded and mostly worked in. Weld seam Still needs to be metal finished. Had a buddy sit in the car since i havent seen anyone in with the tonneau and windscreen on it. He is a little taller than me in the torso so the helmet is higher in the cage on him than it will be for me. 5A6AA73A-1E02-48C1-8148-B15975E54372.jpeg 839E4FC8-09B7-42FD-86C6-E2C53B58C6BE.jpeg 65E91A73-052B-45BA-9467-FFFE066F950C.jpeg 742DB41C-B930-4F19-BD7D-B014611DDCFF.jpeg 90539597-2420-4CFF-8BAF-6BB00F1F7F07.jpeg 3F4FE64A-2A01-4DA2-B446-847F45F9509C.jpeg 1B8DCDD2-5FD9-49DB-AE1E-F04A5C1F0003.jpeg

Some updates. Welding up the tonneau covers and adding Dzus fasteners, fuel vent/ roll over vent done. Started on belly pans, splitter, and crank case vacuum system. More fuel lines ran, and started building the fire doors for the hood sides. Slowly
    But surely its getting there F9D44B7B-6767-4944-AD60-589C9B4944B2.jpeg 6E785DF0-833E-467B-9F8B-8794AE08237C.jpeg D359B802-4932-4684-AB86-B5A72CDB0F71.jpeg E3067EB7-3ECD-4EF4-BAB6-A5A090005E69.jpeg E1F9EEBB-AE49-4A68-8986-807A96359E23.jpeg 3466CF45-B01E-4F07-A549-19AAD99880C9.jpeg 1F21B28D-A78B-41CF-8777-74205B177FCA.jpeg 26D8C38D-24A5-4756-99E8-E5280004DDF7.jpeg 63A779D3-252A-4FE1-962C-0608E7CFDB06.jpeg 8AE64245-CD7D-44B7-B590-DE4BB2F0089D.jpeg CFC29011-3D45-425D-9B2E-45B2B2A389D7.jpeg 13561947-8294-4277-8AE7-A0F48E37149C.jpeg BE21A8DB-798A-4652-8FC9-F7F6E5707A5E.jpeg 4516EC9E-A01B-40D6-8C61-D9600FE74291.jpeg 67B6E4CF-AF0D-4F14-90ED-8DD12BDC9BDC.jpeg 574FF737-65EF-4955-A499-231044FAE7B7.jpeg EA9FB4E0-398C-440F-956B-635287B74A2E.jpeg 286BEB1C-AB3C-4C1F-94FE-9AA8C8B84276.jpeg 2F8746AB-FD2D-4C57-A057-918ED72C80DB.jpeg F9A9A6E7-94B4-445C-9D96-11021688EA6F.jpeg

That's truly aircraft inspired, all of it...even if not the real deal and I'm sure much of it is right from the AC express...love it...and that is truly Traditional...wow your workmanship is awe inspiring...

  18. I am asking because all I have seen are just spring loaded. Love those latches, using them on our canopy

The one good thing is these are spring loaded but open out. You push the button and they pop open

Those are good to 600mph...I installed them on many parts over the years...some of these AC designs are basically unchanged from their early introductions back in the day...

  21. I know, I have several of them. But if that car is on fire do you want to touch that button or simply push your fire extinguisher through a spring loaded hatch? The Safety crew is very experienced, I have trust in them. But, I asked because I do not know the answer. The ruling for Special Construction cars came out in 2017. Details are not laid out in the rulebook. A good idea for any car really.

All for safety @Tman just romanticizing about my good Ole days around aircraft and knowing what happened to Hotrod after WW11...

It'd be interesting to know how many clecos I've installed and removed in my 40 plus years...those are #30s all around that canopy...oh the memories...

Working on getting the firefox fire suppression system in the car, and other stuff checked off the list. Volt gauge finally showed up so got that in, getting the nose mounted and splitter finished up.
