Not since 1975 for me. I ever found a problem with either my old coupe or roadster. I tow back under 20 mph.
For long chassis or very low cars a device to raise the front or have a flat surface is a must.
I also don’t have the room to store an item like this but admire them.

A tow bar and a set of motor home "whiskers" does the job just fine. You only have to make one run a day and go to Impound where the trailer is in the way. Park in the front row and push the car out to the road up front, couple up and be one of the first to run. It's easy.

I will stick to building my trailer

  7. We had a front wheel mount for the bike in '13 and '16. After going thru the baja staging lanes in '16, we'll never do that again. I still don't know how I didn't lose the bike. We will be using a trailer from now on.

I see what you are saying Tman, I have been on those trailer tire failure trips and the dreaded wheel bearing failures also.

Tires just suck any more. I lost 3 on the way to speedweek last year, replaced all 8 tires on the road. Then on the way to GNRS i lost 2 of those tires. So i am trying these HD ones

Had the car outside soaking up some sun. It will be on display Piton Power show in Cleveland this weekend.

I read you are planning to compete at El Mirage this year after Bonneville. I’m sure you will have fun since you have attended a meet and welcome to SDRC. (Member over 40 years).
I have an observation for you to consider as El Mirage is definitely a different venue for driving other than on Muroc which has a finer surface. Have the ability to remove your windscreen. Many Bonneville proven cars have needed to do this.
Enjoy Speed Week and hope to see you and other HAMB members there. JD….

    Why is that?

  20. Dust build up in the cockpit due to negative pressure. Taking the windscreen off will help suck it out.

Actually it will let less in as the windscreen adds air over the driver and roll cage causing suction in the body area. The rear of the surround helps with the vacuum coming forward by the rear shape of a roadster. It’s all a “crap shoot” learned by many runs there and learning from each one. Positive pressure added at the top of the body behind the firewall is useful tool if needed. By looking at roadsters that run on the fine dirt in videos you can see both dirty and clean ones. Being a modified does help and this one may not have the dusting..Just something to think about when coming to El Mirage for the first time to run.

El Mirage is shorter (but harder).

How hard was the salt clean up? They say it gets everywhere.

its not bad, the salt was mostly on the outside on the body. I am sure I going over kill. Car is all torn down for cleaning and servicing getting ready for El Mirage in Nov.

car did well for its first time. I got my rookie run/ E license in at 114, one of my friends got his rookie run/E license , my another friend licensed up to a D license. Worked out a few small bugs on the salt. The course was rough for the first 3/4-1 mile so we took it easy since it was the cars maiden voyage. Car had tons of power left, ran a 2.58 gear and pulled hard through 4th gear for the full course. Some fine tuning and changing a few things, with good salt we will see what she can do

We used our enclosed trailer to retrieve the car so the car was not bad..first time for this because of return road conditions.

Same here. We didnt even set up a pit. We used a small enclosed to transport behind the f100 and got right back in line, serviced the car in the trailer while we waited
