From Speeddemonracing on instagram "We are pulling out the 555 big block and putting in the 256 engine. We are going for the E record of 348mph. We are not done yet!! "

If they get the E record they will have every record in the books for AA/FBS...A/FBS... B/FBS... C/FBS... D/FBS
E/FBS and Ron Main's record for Blown Fuel flathead Streamliner. I forgot F class also with a 4 cylinder Dodge.

Marty, Their oil light came on and George aborted the run. The Last picture on the instagram page showed a beaming George next to a large trophy. I think they were satisfied for the year.

  6. George pulled out at the first mile due to the oil light coming on ... so (for now) the Hoffman & Markley team's E/BFS record is still "safe":

  9. Notice the tribute to Jack Costella on the nose of Speed Demon? Says a lot about both men.

My bucket list includes a trip to Bonneville (never been) and also meeting George.
Have always heard he is just a regular car guy, he just has more fun coupons.
I guess I'm gonna have to get my motel room booked about...........yesterday.

Looking down that list of blown fuel streamliner records it proves one thing. Money helps but hard work is what makes it happen. I have the highest respect for everyone on that list and everyone that it working on getting their name on it.

Thanks to Hemi 32 and RED 032, for the updates. For those of us who follow this, filling in the gaps, and keeping us current, certainly helps.

  15. Trent,

    Godspeed Jack Trepanier.JPG
Actually ... this is a reference to Jack Trepanier who passed away in 2014 ... his son Troy (& the crew at Rad Rides By Troy) built much of the 2nd iteration of the "Speed Demon" streamliner ... as well as the Poteet's "Blowfish Cuda".

As you know, Jack Costella passed away January 3, 2020 :(

That stated, Poteet has a great respect for all the LSR legends that came before him ... including Jack Costella.
