Thank you rich, you guys are just a few down from us in the pit but I haven't had any time to really get out of the pit to come down and meet you. How has the flashpoint run?

I, am not there. I get to do my testing at the lab these days. Flashpoint has had lots of little, I hope, things happen. Things that really should have been sorted by now. Maybe today.

  4. Oh, from the left side I see it's in the sidecar class. I didn't realize it is a 3 wheeler. It's a "leg over" design, which for some reason is OK in the rules, but not for a 2 wheeler with a full body. That rule change is what parked Burt Munro in 1970. Congrats on your record. You are right, that's haulin' ass!!

Thanks for clarifying the different requirements between 2 and 3 wheels in the M/C streamliner classes Dean. I had been wondering about the bodywork, cage, belts, fire suppression system etc.

Congratulations to the team and rider, quite the breeze to have going by while relatively out in the open!

Jack's version of a side car bike. A little hard to see it in there 13450262_255124124865648_3250407571926571139_n.jpg

Bike rules are a little screwy. A streamliner - side car is different from a side car - streamliner.

  11. Just got back from Bonneville, we had a great time with some great runs. Shake down on the car went well, it drives well and I can keep it straight down the course with one hand while shifting and flicking switches with the other. We had a best speed of 154.8 mph, a bit shy of the 175 we wanted but still not bad for a over bored 292 with flat top cast pistons (10.5:1) that came out of a street driven car. It will be back next year with a purpose built race engine with more power and higher speeds.
Thank you to all that helped me and thank you to all the people that just dropped in to say "Hi!". Speed week is always a wonderful time.

Just for the record Justin is busy cleaning his '60 Hardtop four door Pontiac. He had a great first time on the salt and I think we got another one hooked. "Hey! It's a Bonneville at Bonneville!" #bonnevillesquared :);)

They don't post the day's results until the end of the day and they just got yesterday's results up in the past couple of hours as they weren't up at 7 am.

Another 400 mph car. Flashpoint finally made a 4 mile pass. 415.026 at the four and shut it off. Don't know if that was planned. I hope so. Running on a 423 record.

425 mph at the 4 1/4 on the data logger. Tossed the new blower belt. That's two for two. Not good. Bob has corrected me 440 mph at the 4 1/4. Leaned out. Hope to be back for one big Banzai pass Thursday.

Rich, data loggers are a great tool and shows where he lost the belt accelerating in the 4 mile. That was leading to one hell of a pass....

Yeah. I think it's one of those"It was running really good just before it blew" deals. Cost a couple of pistons. Going to richen it a little for tomorrow.

At the 200 mph club banquet now. My man Wally is going into the record book in a few minutes.
