If you always wanted to get into land speed racing here's your opportunity, the car has race history at the flats back to the 50's. Not 100% sure on who originally built the car but Larry Goldsberry, a member of the Roadrunners, got his hand on it some time around 57' he ran it for a few years until the Valenzuela brothers purchased the car and rebuilt it to be more competitive. The brothers updated the running gear to a 301 chevy around 1964, it was at this time that it got a repaint and lettering/ artwork done at Roth studios. The brothers ran the car until the mid 70's when they built a street roadster class car to run at the lakes and "The Mind Blower" got put on the back burner. The car spent the next 35 or so years in storage in the L.A. area until a buddy of mine found it about 7 or 8 years ago. At the time I had been helping several friends run their cars at the lakes and contemplating building my own, when the opportunity came along to purchase a car with real history I decided to jump in.

After I purchased it several people wanted to buy it from me to put in a museum but my mind was made up and this old war horse would see race duty once again. Knowing it's a pretty rare find to come across a true barn/ garage find in this condition the decision was made to make it legal to race without taking away from what the car is. I sliced the original single hoop roll bar off flush with the frame, built a new cage out of 1 3/4 dom that easily passes scta tech, swapped in a speedway engineering quick change, a chevy crate motor a buddy donated to the cause and a m21 Muncie, it got a new fire suppression system, seat belts, and other item to make it pass current SCTA tech with out cutting into the body or changing the look. I've ran the car at the lakes off and on for the last 5 years, it always passes tech without any problems. Fire bottles were refilled/ certed july of last year and are good till the same time next year, new seat belt installed july of this year and good for 5 years. The car is ready to run as is and could show up at the May El Mirage meet and be ready to run without any changes. We just ran it out there at the 14/15 of November meet and went 151.88 mph, the car consistently runs in that range at El Mirage with the current setup.

Basic mechanical run down on the car, chevy zz4 crate motor with aluminum heads, larger Schneider cam, air gap intake, holley carb with sean murphy induction end bowls, Mallory ignition, centerforce clutch mates it to a m21 Muncie that was fully rebuilt. Rear end is a speedway engineering mini stock quick change with a 4.11 ring gear and 2.76 final drive ratio. rear tires are good year, fronts are M&H. steering box is the original Ross that has been in the car since the 50's, I did install a sprint car style steering quickener backwards to slow the ratio down and make the car a little easier to drive. The front end is the original chromed dropped model a, with chrome hairpins and spring, 40 ford spindles, no front brakes. rear brakes are operated with a hand lever connected to a single pot master cylinder just as they have been for more than half a century. The real stopping is done with a Deist parachute.

The car comes with the original tonneau cover, upper dash rail, and single hoop roll bar if someone wanted to restore it. Does not come with the hood sides shown in the more recent pictures, will come with original style ones with the clay smith cam decal on them. I will include all original parts I have for the car, the old steering wheel, original parachute, etc etc.

Sale will include the up to date SCTA log book, some documents/scans of old Bonneville results, the original trophy, and original vintage pictures. There is no title with the car as its a race car, but being an original steel body I could get one for a few hundred extra if need be for international shipping

36,500 possible partial trades considered for model a roadster, or 32-34 coupe/roadster projects
