With a crew like this, what could go wrong ?!?
We will be there one way or another.
With luck, Julie will be up to the trip. May try the bend in the road this year. Looks like fun..
Dan, will the White Goose Bar ready for patrons? I'm feeling a bit parched...
The salt is out this year. Just dont have the funds too make it.
That is such a cool photo. 2 of my passions cool cars & bicycles!!
Hey Brandi what day are you leaving
I cant wait!!!!!! my lips are already dry and I can taste the salt!!!
We're taking off on Wednesday, the 10th. Staying in Mt Home and Wells, Wendover on Friday.
Leaving the butt crack of before dawn on Thursday the 11th, running two bikes this year, should be fun and I can't wait.
I going up on the 9th to work with the wire crews, and the rest of the week Randy Travis and I will be running the ERT ( crash truck) the rest of speedweek. so I hope I dont see any of you of course. So if you have to turn to the inside(EMERGENCIES) we will be there shorty to help you. good luck, and be safe.
Daily driver is acting up. Frustrating as hell. Looking at options, may drive it anyway........
A picture request if possible. I am building a model of a bonneville car, and I need a pic of the track area and "floating mountain" to use as a backdrop. I do not want any cars or other stuff in it-just salt, the mountain and sky. It would also be neat if you can get a bit of the course in it. I need it as large as your camera will take it, and as high of a resolution as possible, since I need at least an 8" by 10" print. Please PM me if you can send me a copy. Thanks a bunch!
Here are a couple different views. One without floating mnt. but still a nice shot.
Hopefully I will be there with the belly tanker, as I am still thrashing on the motor....
Myself and Hamb'er : " Flat-Top Bob " (Bob Owens / Owens Salvage) will be driving....
I've got my truck and crew ready.
Looking forward to meeting you and seeing your truck, it's outstanding.
I will be going from Pasco Washington with my step son in my 62 Chevy truck or our 58 Edsel.
Will be meeting up with some folks in Boise Friday morning.
WOW!!! You dont mess around? It looked NOTHING like that in June when I saw it
Yes, we will be open. We ill show those Texans how to run the side wall of a trailer.
It was just about ready for paint then, all the guys wanted "patina" but I'm sure happy with how it turned out. Now I want to redo the '58 but I'd have to pay for that one. It's good to have a racing buddy that owns a paint shop.
Latest posting from Roy Creel:
Wendover experienced 2 rain events yesterday and last night. We are waiting for an "on the salt report"
With the predicted 100 Deg. temps this weekend, doubtful much water will last long. More when we know it."
Keep an eye on www.scta-bni.org for the up to the minute situation.
That looks like a city construction project if you ask me! 1 guy working, 3 guys watching. LOL!!!!
Watch for me on the Salt on my old Honda Scrambler
Right on! I'll be in my roadster, more than likely bombing around with a '38 Chev pickup and the Doug Rice '39 Ford, now owned by Don Richardson.
Thanks for the pics DYNOROOM! The first one and the third one are what I was looking for. Do you have any that are bigger? I don't know if these can be printed large enough for a background.
What do you mean "Beggars can't be choosers"? Yuk Yuk Yuk!
Ive been looking forward to going all year but medical problems have sidelined me again. Maybe next year. Youall have fun and be safe.
Looks like I am taking our beater Honda. Rather the salt mess it up anyway!
Not this year.... honeymoon in Portland, Or. Ill be back in 2012 though.
Today's afternoon report, follow-up from my earlier post:
Yes a thunderstorm hit Wendover yesterday and last night, but the Intrepid plant only recorded .03 inches on their rain gauge and out at the race course(s) an onsite check finds the salt dry today. There are possible thunderstorms predicted for tonight . Stay tuned."
