Yet one more reason I'm putting boat seats in my car, haha.

  2. Anyways, mine came from a B-17 bomber, from the late 40's. An old pilot as well as a few others mine was the real deal.

  3. Smart man!

I wasn't hunting a bomber seat, this one just fell out of the sky at a swap meet!

    Yeah, really thats pretty nuts.
    This isn't a fasion show.
Leave the bomber parts to the plane restorers.

  8. I agree on the repops. But if the old ones are, then that means this whole movement is the next billet movement?

Mine goes here, my Dad's old 33 stocker, only need one.

You guys should do a little more research. Gennie B-17 seats are scarce these days. $850 would be cheap if it's the real deal. Looks too good to be a repop. Don't confuse it for any other kind of aircraft seat. There are many types in circulation and this is not one found often. I understand the hohum attitude toward bomber seats these days with all the cheap copies and rivet happy replicas, but you can't beat the genuine article if you want to have a truly period correct piece above and beyond the usual accessories.

If you got one just like it for $140, you stole it. I'd easily pay twice that for a really good reproduction of the B-17 seat. I think they look like this:

brian26: if it's the real deal, of course it's cool. but how do you know if it's real or not? i couldn't tell them apart, and i doubt most people who glance into the interior of a car at a cruise in, goodguys, billetproof, whatever could distinguish reproduction from original.

I'm torn, a real aircraft seat (Honestly not many used in the day were from bombers!) Is pretty cool and something I would like to have in the right car. Period correct late 50s cars only.
But on the other hand, having been active in WWII aircraft Restoration I would rather see them where they are meant to be.
    Its a dilema.......
And under 1g for a real B-17 seat is cheap. Try looking for early 40's beach and off brands that were military aircraft. You can have the look without the $$.
