Customs Bob Hope's '48 Merc Custom

Yes, it recently went thru the Mecum auction in Fl and did not make reserve.

 

Wow, thats a real dogs dinner....

Don't get me wrong...the work looks amazing...but looks a little...umm..distracted

 

Nice custom but not my cup o tea.

Well, since no one else is going to say it. It's uglier than Bob Hope. And he wasn't no anything to write home about.

Not something I would drive, but I like it. Looks like alot of good work was put in it.

Well, after seeing that, no one should have to worry about "erections lasting longer than four hours".

 

Love to have that flat head, I would give it a good home.

 

I saw it there in person, the pictures make it look a little nicer than it is in person. It was one of their star/feature cars at the sale so it was somewhat of a surprise that it had a reserve and consequentially didn't sell. I think it was bid up to $100k, I see the starting bid is $200k.

 

I love how the seller has tried to turn it into "Bob Hope's" car with a small picture of him and the car and an anecdotal story about him actually sitting in it and, GASP, maybe even driving it. Wow, what amazing provenance. Certainly makes it worth the, stated, 300 to 500K "value".
