Citroen Trefle (clover) because of the 3 seating positions, quite popular at the time often time compared to the Model T.

I don't really call them boat tails because to me like someone else said a boat tail looks like the bow of a boat but here are a few of the ones I have built...

David,it is always a pleasure to view your work.It matters little if you are done or just starting the project! I am fully aware that it is harder than you make it look and that it took you years to develop your skill.

Bob its like anything else, you have to learn the basics then it is a case of practicing.
If you don't learn the basics you can never go any further.

Here is a shot that shows the brake down of the panels that make up the back of the Riley above that may help the O.P....

Well David, I freely admit to being all very bruised thumbs when it comes to shaping sheet metal and your work leaves me speechless. Is the construction of this fantastic boattail on your DVD? Perhaps you you could post a few build pics so I (and perhaps a couple others) could pretend for a few moments that we could do similar work?

Hi Jim (Jiminy), I already did a thread on building one of these you can find it here...

I show the building of the body for the car above.
I do show many of the techniques used in building something like these bodies including aluminium welding and wire edging in the way I do it on these bodies on the DVD.

Thanks for the pointer David. I had missed this thread and will read through it thoroughly when I get home from work - my quick browse was very humbling. I will have to check out all your threads to see what other amazing craftsmanship I have missed.

    Anyone got any more pics?

  24. Just purchased the molds for this car and will soon be doing a limited run of the boattail. The car in the photo was produced from these molds. This is the photoshopped version you did Rik, I just changed the color to Candy Red. These are the same molds that FASI used to build his boattail.

WOW..........The color makes this pop. Mine will be more subdued but I love this look. Looking forward to seeing what you do.

  26. That was quite a trip to pick up the molds and I got lucky that my cousins came and help load the trailer. FASI can lift pretty good for an old geezer. Thats the tail of the boattail on the trailer.

  27. its just something about those lines, that makes it a timeless piece =)

  28. I am trying some different front end stylings for the Boattail. This is a Brewster grille that was used on the Oliver Hines coupe in Detroit in the fifties. It is part of the Hot Rod display at the Gilmore Museum in Hickory Corners Mi.
    Definitely needs the Duvalle Windshield.
Rough Photoshop, the cowl is off.
