Blown motor "starter"

anybody ever made a home built Starter setup for a 671 snout mount, I just can't see paying 6 or 7 hundred bucks for one. and if so what do you use to make it out of.

 

There's 2 SPE's in classifieds now for 400.00

I think Richard may have one of those DC aircraft starter motors I know he had loned it to the Whitesides for there indy car some years back he may still have it.
