Ok guys I recently bought a cuda funny car from the funny factory and I was gonna run a hemi but I can't see the point in the extensive cost but I do have a nice 440 30 over bore Indy heads 11.5 compression BME aluminum rods billet crank it recently took my 63 dodge Polara 330 , 9.60s in the quarter but I retired it for a larger motor I intend on gapless rings or oring the block or cometic gaskets I know on alky I need the higher compression even with the blower . Can someone out there make my setup a little clearer to me as in what I need to do to make this thing last i am shooting for the 1500 Hp range

We run a 427 all steel Chevy in a mud racer. .650 solid roller cam, 8-71 30% over driven with 11.5 cr. on alky, 1500hp is easy. Made about the same on non blown injected 50% Nitro. The 440 will be a bear....We use MSL head gaskets,

I have about the same as Jim, tall deck 427 with Littlefield 8-71 and enderle hat and it makes solid 1500hp - it is all about that lump of aluminum between the intake and the hat.
Fill your block, run copper headgaskets - no water at all in the engine - you can change your CR with the headgasket thickness.
Remember, the big pulley goes on the bottom, little pully on top all else is window dressing.

We have all ways ran lots of compression with blown alky. You don't have to go crazy with over driving the blower. Get you a good Mag. If you run 1/4 mile you will need a high speed lean out, 1/8 mile no...The big wedge will love timing, but with the comp. 40 to 42 will be good to start. We always crank w/24 volts and use a bone stock Chevy HD starter. Give Comp cams or witch ever cam you like a call, have them grind a cam for your deal. Tell them you want to put some heat in the cyl's soon. Can't say enought about the Mag, spend your money there. Mine is an old Malory tuned up by Len Huges 574-293-6688 best Malory man bar none.....Msd 12 amp is much better, but $$$$.....

One thing about O-ring on the 440. Make sure you look at the head combustion chamber closely, some Mopar heads and most Indy heads will leave part of the O-ring outside the sealing area. MSL gaskets will live very nicely with the blower.....

Gapless rings have nothing to do with O ringing the block or MLS head gaskets.

Gapless rings are a style of piston ring.

  11. never used nitro but bbc with 8:71 10:1 20% overdrive 30psi boost 1500hp mls gaskets
sbc 13:1 compression 8:71 30% overdrive 1100 hp mls gaskets both used a mag for spark and intake gaskets glued on the heads

I've done just about everything you can do with a Nitro Hemi, but my new car is being built around a blown Nitro Wedge. It's something I've been wanting to do for years and have studied it from every angle. I have no doubt the confguration can and will live at the 1800 horse range with very basic parts. I'd be happy to go over it all with you, but it would be like writing a damn book. You can call me if you want to talk about it.

  14. Hi, Just found this post out of interest. By chance did you ever get your blown Mopar wedge put together yet? Any pictures or #'s ? Would love to see!
