It's the angle of the picture. Il take some better ones next time I was In a hurry. It's close to the pitman arm but there shouldn't be and issues even in worse case scenarios. The nut make adjustments easy. I plan on chroming all the drag links and small linkage so the nut will hopefully prevent chipping the chrome.

I wasn't explaining anything. It's the video where the engine destroys the dyno room. But I did ask Jim Oddy why he was running collector headers instead of zoomies on his '33 Willys AA/G car when he had the small Chevy engine in it. He said it made no difference. Now if you think you're smarter than Jim Oddy, you must be a genius. If it makes you feel better, he does have zoomies on the Hemi he replaced the Chevy with. But I think it has more to do with packaging than anything else.

I don't know if they still sell it but Speedway had a mechanical water pump for injected sprint cars that mounted between the timing cover and Hilborn/Enderle fuel pump. The drive spud went through the water pump and engaged the fuel pump.

I believe they still do, but would cause clearance issues with the blower belt. There are a few water pumps like that available I just though this would make things easier.

  5. That nut on the shaft is a great idea. Mine is all mangled from using vice grips at the track. What water pump is that?

You had to get some work done during the warm weather streak....where is the update man?

You can't beat a red 57 if your car isn't done!

You know how life goes. Ended up moving last weekend and got engaged. So my fiancé is wearing my motor on her finger right now haha. I did sneak in a day in there some how though. I bought new Calvert mono leaf springs for the rear to save some weight but the arches were a little different than the ones I had. This completely altered my rear suspension geometry. So after loosing a few nights sleep. I decided I wanted to change my ladder bars anyways and make them more gasser looking. So I ordered rod ends and bungs. So I have been doing things and planning just no pictures to show for it. One step forward two steps back. Should change the name and put rebuild in there somewhere. I was going to email you and tell you to cross my name off the list haha there might be hope still. Hopefully when it gets nice I will start working on the car at night.

Congrats on getting engaged. There are a few things more important than cars.

    Messed around at work today.

This is what I'm thinking for the new ladder bars

  11. Only thing I would do different is put the adjuster on the top bar rather than the bottom. Im guessing thats why the bottom bar is shorter than the top? Then it's hidden out of plain site.

I was kinda thinking that. I guess it doesn't really change anything design wise. It might actually be a stronger design considering the bottom bar takes most of the hit.

Not sure on the length yet. Im going to go with an aurora chromoly rod 3/4 rated at 28,000lbs plus.

Had the rear end in and out of the car a bunch of times figuring out ride height and taking measurements.

Welded up the front mounts missed being behind the helmet.

Should start making the ladder bars next weekend.

A few more pay checks and you should see some boxes with a Mw on them.

Back at it. The rear springs are from Calvert racing. They didn't send me the hardware for the front. So they sent me some. Whoever pressed the front bushings in made eggs out of them. Instead of calling and bitching I fixed then myself. The hardware they sent looked like garbage. The drill walked all over the place. So I just made my own. Then I know it's right. Also made some adjustment to the spring sliders they sent. So much for American manufacturing.

    Here's the hardware I made

    IMG_1491177826.261305.jpg

You can see they did quite complete the bend

When I was done top and bottom were within .010". Maybe I'm just crazy

And I finished the debuting for them

Rear is in the car with weight to settle the springs

Next make the ladder bars and weld the slides in.

No ladder bars yet. Waiting on another piece of material and I want to make them both at the same time so they are exactly the same and it will be easier to do the notches.

I did clean off the old ladder bar brackets
    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1491702787.241813.jpg

I also welded the bottom of the back frame section. I'm giving the springs a little more time to settle before I weld the sliders in.

Here is a mock up shot

I just wanna make the ladder bars and roll it out side

More mock up. Still waiting on tubing guess the had to mine the raw material or the order never got placed

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1492481074.930417.jpg

Did refine the ladder bars a little to make them easier to make. Yes they are a knock off of a Quain stott design. Your only going to see the bottom of them anyways.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1492481185.050381.jpg

Hopefully this weekend I can get these made.

    Got one side done

A 10 degree notch isn't the easiest thing to do.

I could only do a short section. Then had to print cope in solid works to give me a pattern to finish the rest.

I'll take more pictures when I do the next one.

Made a dumb mistake and cut the other side to short. At least I did it before the notch. I mixed the finished one up with the not finished one they were both to close to the bandsaw

As promised the cope. The lady was getting her haircut so I grabbed another piece of tubing

Notched tubing and template. The template is on sticky paper from office max
    IMG_1493177112.655802.jpg

I step in with the bridgeport to rough and a grinder to finish

    IMG_1493177210.391666.jpg

A little more fine tuning and it will be good to go

    Finished the second ladder bar.

I bolted them together to make sure they were the same length.

I'm ready to roll this thing outside already. Still a lot of work to get to that point.
