Very Interesting, the story a Black and White Photo can tell...and....How small is the World we live in ? ...
This is a picture of a garage in New York in 1957. The '39 Ford with the '40 nose had belonged to my friend Russ... living in Eugene, Oregon since the 1970's.
Zoom ahead to 2008 Speedweek at the Bonneville Salt Flats. I'm spectating at the start line, sitting near my '50 Chevy, when a guy stops by to B.S. about old Chevy's.
He tells me that after returning home from the Korean War, that he told his friends he was going to chop the convertible top on his '51 Chev and make it a working convertible. Everyone told him it couldn't be done...so he did it. Then he drags a dogeared picture out of his wallet and apologizes for it's condition, as it is the only one he has had for years.
I look at the picture and flashback to one I had seen years earlier and told him, "I've seen that picture before." We then start bringing up names and low and behold, my friend in Oregon was the brother of this guys buddy. They all grew up in N.Y. and shared the garage. Anyway, I told him to give me his address and I would get Russ to send him a better picture... I did, Russ did, and they corresponded.
Russ has since passed away but there is another cool story about how he found his old '39 convertible.....years later....maybe someday, 'The Rest of the Story'

I see someone mentioned it but yeah those pics are circa the year they are and scanned or photographed then posted. Not sure when they stopped processing photos like that, they were still bordered in the 70s maybe even the 80s as an option but not dated as they did in the 60s and earlier...I have a Program with border options but it doesn't have vintage photo borders...neither does my version of Photoshop...I have mimicked it with Photoshop though and it's not that easy making it authentic looking either...see below...

...and here's a right clic saver for you Root...One thing you can do with your paint program as a project is take a pic of an image with the border you want and scan it or shoot a pic with the Ole phone (in this case I used @LOST ANGEL's image for the vintage border) and take your pic you want on the old border, crop it and plunk it over top as I just did here...I had to make the 6 in 66 a 2 and stretched/scaled the border to fit your dads cropped image...why did I crop dads image? because it had a form of border but not dated as the ones you were asking about...

Looks like Glen Cambell up front on the right. Maybe the Mussell Shoals group of studio artists?
