Several of the cars on this post are world class,no mistakes customs!

    [/ QUOTE ]

yup. I'd agree on that, but I'd have to say MOST of them - even the mild ones - Sometimes you can say the most with just a few "perfect" modifications.

Overall, I think the whole custom scene in that part of the globe is about the most right-on perfect, car for car to be found anywhere.

It cracks me up to hear these negative comments from those who are so close in what they love - old customs - but yet narrow in scope as to what is worth looking at or acceptable.

It's all about having fun with restyling old rusty crap.

oo mack,, again i agree!! a rat rodder i am not... i think all cars should be done to ones best ability. just thought it was an asshole way it was worded, and struck a nerve . i think the same way as klasurfer on many levels, but chose to keep it to myself. some ppl are just doin the best they can espacially over seas.. i have less tolerance for a shitbox here in the u.s. but still bite my tung.as should many on this board. not only is our hobby supposed to be FUN this computer shit is too.. so as i have said in so many posts, say somethin nice or shut the the fuck up..oo mack this is by no means directed at you..dave

  6. Winners circle from Customs of Swedens Lead Nats a few years ago. Shows that we Swedes really do appriciate Finnish customs as well! From the Left: Peder Behr´s Chrysler (Sweden), Petri Hälvä´s (Finland), Wolf´s Merc (Sweden), Palle´s 54 Ford and Thomas Volvo. The grand price that year was won by Petri.

Well, back to life's other essentials...old cars ! [IMG]

Here's a very nice kustom from Finland.
    Jakes 1948 Chevy.

(But Jake, shave that driprail and doorhandle, mold the fenders and throw away those cheap dummy spots ! You know I have a nice pair of Lorraine Appletons for you, ha ha... OK, the beers are on me next time [IMG])

Here's my two cents about paintwork. Just my personal thoughts.
    Two things.
    First:
When you put on a real glossy paint EVERYTHING else has to be 100%. Otherwise your "pretty nice" chrome and interior etc. will look "pretty bad", I'm afraid. And not that many kustom cars are that finished within a long time, since some modifications have to be done while getting the "feel" for the car, driving it and watching it from every possible angle. So a satin/flat paintjob is a paint to make the car look nice and complete, but not finished. But it can still be a color, doesn't have to be flat black.

    Number two.
A car that's in very nice condition, but with a satin color looks much more exciting many times, compared to a glossy version of the same car. This is my personal taste, of course. So even with a "finished" car, will a shiny paint make the car look very much better or will it even be a bit more boring ? Impossible to tell, but it's worth thinking of...
The top period-perfect cars of that era should be shiny, but how much ? Modern 2K paint is very shiny, but very plastic. Is that the right way ? Was Sam Barris 1940 Mercury Convertible done in a superglossy paint ? I guess so, don't know. But it sure looks nice, doesn't it ?

Geeez, I'm just ranting here, sorry.... More pics please !
I'll have a cup of coffe and try to get something done around here ! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
Take care, fellow hot rodders and kustom geeks !

But after publishing the photo of the Fonz (may he rest in peace) Merc I would of course not claim that all USA-built customs exported to Sweden are ugly.
One of the very best customs in Sweden is built in the USA as well. Lars Hellgren had David Guymon to build him this fantastic 53 Buick, The Blue Bayou. This one is perfect!

my response was to this buick! [IMG]

that 57 buick wagon looks awesome, really cool as 2 door
only thing i would ditch is the overused 59 caddy orange used as turnsignals but otherwise really nice

  30. Long arm? As a custom fanatic its a must to have the same body geometry as Pat Ganahl and Kurt McCormic!
This is Andreas´ Riviera. Fadings and Metalflake top.
