Happy Birthday Lloyd! It's your choice now to retire or semi-retire when you feel like it. You always have the bodyshop to work as much as you want to.

Nice thing about being eligible for retirement is that "you're bullet proof". Meaning you can pull the pin anytime if firehouse politics get too intense. I pulled the pin at 58. I could have stayed several more years to reach max benefits but my boss and I didn't see eye to eye so in November of '09 I ran the numbers and I was gone before Christmas. But as long as you still like your job continue to answer the bell for every shift. JMO

  4. Happy birthday, and with your work retirement rules, you also hit your KMA day. If it gets too bad, you can tell them to kiss my ass.

  5. I've already met with a retirement counselor with the Kentucky retirement authority. Those numbers are close right now lmao! But for now, July 31st of 2025 is my last shift. I've made mention that if I was to be moved to a full time engineer position, I might hang around a few more years, but that's kinda the pussy way out. I feel like it's time to just build cars.

  7. We had a guy retire last year that always said he was just one bad day away lol... I won't complain, I'm the oldest guy in my department, Chief Mosbey takes good care of me, and all of the other guys.

Retired? I was tired yesterday, and I'm tired again today. Does that make me retired?

Actually, I officially retired in Oct 2018. Then I built a truck. Then I rebuilt a car. Then I built another truck. I had to retire from being retired. I was still working full steam, until I ran out of steam.

This time around, I'm getting kind of used to a different life style. I have no idea how I got anything done while I was working, but I suspect not taking time to sit on the porch swing most mornings with my wife, and not taking that afternoon nap may have something to do with it.

Everyone's idea of retirement looks different. I busted my butt for 47 years (started working at 15 1/2) doing lots of hours (often 2 jobs) making the bucks, so I could do all the things I wanted to do. I'm enjoying the slower pace of life right now.
Get all you can get while your working, some day you just may decide your done doing that.

  9. Happy belated birthday Lloyd, I was forced into retirement in 2015 at 49 because of my medical issues, I don't even know what day of the week it is anymore. Lol

Congrats buddy on surviving another b-day...and a retirement date.
I retired about 12 years ago when I was 60...best thing I ever did. Crunched the numbers, had already paid off the house and sold my commercial construction business and equipment to my foreman.
Retired Bonnie a couple years later. I'm very fortunate and grateful that we get to enjoy a comfortable retirement together.:)

Happy birthday and congratulations on the retirement date. Retirement is great, sometimes I don’t know how I had time to work.

My Company had great retirement training, counselors... one seminar showed us where retires live, or move to. Florida, Arizona... #1 and #2.

Then the showed graphs of retirees, when they retired by age, how long they live after. I retired next year.... working to 70... was a bad idea....

  20. Yeah I believe 55 is gonna be my number. I'll turn 56 about 9 days after I retire. Thinking about making a trip to California to meet some hamb guys in person.

  21. Was you able to watch the live stream??

  22. I tried last night, but it just showed Friday night’s show. This morning I was able to see last night’s show. I’ve been watching it all day. It looked like you were all the way at the far end of the stage. Before Chandler was born, there was a great band around here that we followed every Friday and Saturday night. There is just no one around here we follow anymore. We need to move to Eastern Kentucky.

Looking forward to an update if and when it happens. I’m stuck here not being able to venture away for anymore than a day’s outing due to care for the father in-law.

  24. You gotta You Tube feed? Would like to see it! And, if you come this way, you are all way's welcome here!

If you're on Facebook, it's Dustin Burchett and Kentucky Clear. When I play with them they usually broadcast on Facebook live. Last night was fill in work lol. I do session and studio work for other bands, plus I have my own band.

Chevy should have done those wheel wells from the beginning knowing full well the '55s would need clearance.
