  6. I've heard of lightening holes and the weight to horsepower ratio, so i think this thing is gonna haul ass!:D and i made a radiator mount. Gotta finish cutting more of the floor out, build a structure, and start cutting metal;) 20210810_211801.jpg 20210810_211807.jpg 20210810_214854.jpg 20210810_221948.jpg

  9. Don't know if anybody wants them, but i have the hubs off of the car laying here, free of charge. I assume they have the tapered bearings to swap out the tri five?

If they are the originals, they are not tapered bearings but are ball hearings

On the bright side...if you hit a possum (dinner) all you'll have to do is reach down and grab it;).

I did that ball to tapered roller changeover to my 57 in 1971, not sure how I knew about it because I was still a kid in high school, probably read about it in Hot Rod magazine (when I should have been studying).

  18. Ok let's change this to my build thread. Car is running and the straight axle is done for the most part. What do you do when you have no floors and a new one piece pan is outrageous on price? You get out your tape measure and start researching! A trip to muscle car central about 30 minutes from here took care of a lot of problems for me. Turns out that a 66-67 chevelle floor plan is stupid close to the elco, and at $129 each! Gotta fill in the center, but I'm stoked, and that's what it's all about. 20210820_130709.jpg 20210820_131326.jpg 20210820_131333.jpg 20210820_131338.jpg

I think that has more footwell dropdown than a 60 chev, so an added benefit is more leg room!! way to go man!!

  20. When i slipped the passenger side in i just about shit on myself. I did actually start laughing. It's unbelievable how good it fit. The drivers side still has the dimmer switch on the toe board so it doesn't lay down flat. But this solves what was my biggest issue with building the car. A floor pan was gonna cost me $800, plus $577 shipping? That's just stupid. So i went to metals depot, 4X10 sheet of 16 gauge or 18 gauge was $279-$289. I'm much better off this route. Gotta make some supports, but that's it.

  21. I've been ordering parts like a wild man lately, between my car and Ashley's truck, we've wore out the FedEx truck lol, and with all of the parts ordered, I'm finally stuck on front brake hoses, they're on back order  guess I've been lucky on everything else lol.

Nice solution on the floors buddy. Looks like the build is going smoothly...kinda scary isn't it?:D:D:D

  23. Nothing goes smooth around my place lol, everything is a fight! But i kinda like it that way ;) if it doesn't work, just cut, weld, and grind until it does :D i like hot rodding, not restorations!

  24. Picked up a fresh 8.5 10 bolt with a 3:73 posi traction today. I feel good about putting it in the car. Really want to distribute some tire smoke equally. I think it hurt the man's feelings when i told him i done need the leaf springs or stabilizer bar, I'm gonna cut on it and put it in my straight axle car :D IMG_3697.jpg IMG_3698.jpg
