Wooho!! First time on the road today. Man this thing is going to be a nice road car. Seems to have a good highway gear and it just floats down the road. Still a lot to do but this was a huge day.

After driving it for awhile I thought that the frontend needed to be raised. The front tires were rubbing the fenders when it turned. I repalced the coil springs in the frontend with a set out of a 71 Camaro that I had. It raised it about 1 1/2". So this is the final ride height. What do ya think?

I cant tell much if any diffrence in its look and if thats what makes the tires not rub, then thats the way to go.

Pretty much finished the interior. Just some cleaning up and a little steaming should do it. Not perfect but I am still learning on the job.
Just a few little things to do and it will be ready for the road. Hopefuly this weekend.

  7. Out standing !!!!

Plans for a steering wheel change?

  8. Wow. I like it. Different is good, and this turned out better than good.
The wheels look right on. I have the same wheels on my 69 Ford Wagon and have only seen one other car with them. They look really good on yours. congratulations on a great build!

Well it's finished and ready to sell so I can start my 38 Plymouth Coupe. Took alot longer than I thought it would. But don't they all.
I was really worried that I would not be able to make it look cool but I think it turned out good if not cool. You can only do so much with ulgy.

The car has turned out very nice so far. One thing I would do ASAP is to get rid of that god-awful ugly steering wheel.
Think of it as shaving off just one more bump of ugly ;) :)

Heres the money shot, I can see and hear it bellowing by now, through some nice duals at the local cruise night.

Awesome car, and I thought the front fenders on my 1946 Olds 76 were long!

looks super and not ugly at all! I'd cruise the wheels off it. looks super comfy and with that long wheelbase I'd bet it rides smooth.

  21. That turned out really nice and I can't say that it took a long time at all, but that's me I guess.

Next one of those you do, take a foot section between the doors and front wheels:)

    Hey, '31V;
Don't think that'd look good. Proportions would be way off. I had a '48 Windsor rag, & it looked ok from the side, but the New Yorker, w/a longer wb looked better. Much better proportions. Those things are just huge x large. The limos are even longer, but still can look killer. Tex Smith did one, that we'd call a resto-rod. Killer looks, & kept the straight 6 flathead, mildly hopped up, w/a 3spOD.
    Marcus...

  23. Okay maybe 12" was an over estimate used to figuratively express the length of the nose. A joke if you will.
But 3-4" would be more in line
It would be way too much work to re do the tapers and curves but I bet photo shop would do it for an eyeball.
