I am looking at purchasing 2 56 Olds doors from a fellow HAMBer in Modesto Cali. I need to find a cost effective way of getting them to Oxnard so they can go in a crate with other parts to be shipped home. I don't mind paying for the shipping within reason, what would be the cheapest way of doing it?
    Thanks
    Russell.

  4. The two towns are only 300 miles apart ... Id run a ad in craigslist in the modesto area ... someone making that run wouldnt mind alittle change in their pocket. Alot of college kids returning to school, UCSB, will jump on that.

  5. The GNRS is in roughly a month, there's gotta be some HAMBer coming down from NorCal with a truck who would be willing to deliver the doors for you.

  6. make it two for Greyhound....

Thanks all. I will see what the seller wants to do, he is unsure of shipping large stuff.

You may like Fastenal. They are inexpensive because they only ship from their stores to their other stores

Look for people on Craigslist driving from place to place, they will do it for a couple bucks no problem.

Russell . There are Kiwis (Bakersfield mob)that always go to Turlock and several others who live in or around Modesto.
It is the same weekend as GNRS to so likely there will be some people going in both directions a some time of that weekend.
There is a trucker who runs the West Coast , carries cars and parts South to the shippers for " Down under" ...I think Kiwi Rex Kelland, who lives in Modesto , uses the guy.
I had his card but can't seem to find it , I think it is Pacific Coast Auto Transport.
    If you can't find em
    gimme a call 021 1832703.

I shipped a '40 Ford trunk lid by Greyhound. Not all depots do shipping. You have to check. Took it to the depot. The guy put it on a scale, took my money, stuck a label to it, and off it went. Didn't have to package it. Was the cheapest by far. But wasn't the fastest. Gene.

Nipomo is about 2 hours north of Oxnard.
I live between Oxnard and I 5 I could relay them from I 5 at the 126 to Oxnard.

If I was in the area, and they would fit in my 2003 Accent hatch, I'd do it for free!

$30 worth of gas to pick up a 400 SBC shortblock, gimmie a break..

Thanks for all the help. I will forward to the seller to see what he thinks might be the best option.
    Cheers

I will give this another try as the seller is being less than helpful & wants me to organise the shipping (not that simple 1/2 a world away). A HAMB relay may work, there are a couple of generous offers on this thread, it just needs to be ironed out and any gaps in the delivery organised.
Is there anyone heading down to the GNRS that could help? Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Greyhound is an option.

  27. I'm about 2 hours south of Modesto and I'm headed to Buena Park, Ca on the 18th of this month. If you can have someone meet me in Buena Park, I'll pick up the doors for you and get them down south. PM me if interested.
