    A pic of Dave's old merc :(.
It has the nicest roof line I think I've ever seen.

Bump is that front 4" vertical or not? That looks more chopped than a regular 4" chop.

It's been a long time but that's what I remember. It's probably the angle of the photo. -stick

Wow dig the fadeaway body lines, haven't seen very many like that, only one that I can remember. Thats a gorgeous roof line to match as well.

Bob Politz's 51 Merc had em.

No shit about the roof. That might be my fav chop. Only thing is for my taste the rear of the quarter windows are too harsh an angle, but man that thing is pretty perfect.

Bobby's is the only other one I've seen em on. Check out how the roof line almost matches the bodyline.

thanks for the compliments, and we both agree that the rear quarter windows are to sharp of an angle, so since its in the process of being redone he's actually planning on making more of a radius on it because we figured it would be kind of hard to get stainless trim to make that corner and still look nice, i appreciate the feedback.

Ive got to be the only Merc guy who doesnt really dig the Hegman Merc. It is a beautiful car, no mistaking that, but A. I dont think its chopped enough (just that extra bit ;)) and B. The back of the roof looks too bulbous. Even takes on a fastback-ish look from the 3/4 rear angle shot.

Just me, but the one with the pointy quarter windows has one of the best chops Ive seen. That is slick.

  16. heres some more

opps, bettencourts aren't fadded. added that one by mistake.

  17. Bettancourts were faded. I think that '51 is Dave Bugarins' car.

funny how I owned this one for about 11 years and I only have a few good pics of the 'semi-what' side profile of my old '51. The rear quarter windows have been modified a bit, and there are several things that I will re-do when I build the next one as far as the top, but for the most part it was better than regular.
Good topic, glad someone brought it up.

  19. I think they look better with the rain gutter left on. The Sam Barris merc is a beauty but is missing the line above the quarter. The gutter adds a more finished look. You have to see the Hegman merc in person to appreciate the workmanship. Stunning.

IMO yours doesn't look bad w/o the drip rail because there is enough quarter window and door top to fill your eye. Theres not a huge gap between the door top/ top of the quarter window and the roof making you ask the question that is missing. The lack of bulbous C-pillar helps that as well.

It could just be the angle though.
