I've sent some picures of my bellytank to a few guys and thought it was about time I start a thread of my build for all to see. My work is slow but steady so don't expect to see any rapid progress in future posts.

As you can see it will flathead ford v8 powered, early ford sideshift trans, model A front axle, and quickchange rear. My frame is C-channel formed from flat plate for a vintage feel.

I have a long way to go but I'll get there.

    More pics to come.

Are you using shelf brackets and hose clamps to hold the cage together before welding?,...very clever!

  8. Very nice, dig the mock-up with the clamps to test fit!

Keep us posted as I would like to start one also..................great work.
What length did you decide to build and is the tank a real one or a prepop.

    Good Luck

    Thanks for the compliments!

Yes, those are cheap angle brackets and hose clamps from the hardware store holding the tubes together. I got a lot of strange looks at the hardware store buying more every few days, but it works well.

It is a real tank, 30” diameter at the widest point, 13’6” long. I attached a pic of the tank tag.

Lucky – I met you & Bobby at Bonneville congrats on the new records. The strut rods with the solid rear axle are just to add a little support to the outside of the axle, it also made it easier to square up the axle to the chassis.

I also attached a pic of my cad design, it has gone a long way for helping plan to fit everything inside some very cramped spaces.

Hey congrats on what you have already accomplished! Your going to build a really nice piece of hot rod machinery.

What are your plans for running the car at the salt or Mirage?

Hey that's soo cool and killer fabbing. Wow, your in the northeast. We have a couple of bellytanks we haven't started yet. We're building a flat4 and inline 6. We're not far from you in PA. If we can help let us know and check out some of our Bonneville pics. Maybe you can test and tune it at the Maxon strip on the eastcoast. Joe www.powerandnoise.com

Very nice. Shelf brackets, C-clamps and Clecos can be your best friends. Wayno

This thread is too cool. Mind if I ask how you came by or did the cad design?
