A Jimmy powered Lakester?! Subscribed :) Lookin good Candy Man!

  2. Yep, saw the mid mount. I like your idea on the front mount!:)

  3. super stout cage, well done, but I'm interested to know why you didn't extend the car a little and lay the driver back a heap and get his head and torso out of the wind? was there a reason you went this path?

Look forward to seeing more of this build, great to see,

    Drewfus:)

Good Question: I only have 4" from the front of the water pump to the back of the seat, minus the dia. of the tubing and the thickness of the firewall. Straight six, scatter shield mated to a Muncie 4 speed leaves very little room..... If I could have extended the car I would have, I am already at 132 " wheel base with only 55" of room for the driver....

The head rest is not on the tank as of yet, therefore; the drivers helmet will be almost level with the top of the head rest which runs the entire length of the tank, from the rear of the cage. The seat is already at 20 degrees lay back. 4" of tubing will be above the head rest... The head /intake for the 302 will actually be in the head rest area, as the tank has a "flat bottom"......

  6. thanks for the explanation, and can appreciate the realestate disappears real quickly. One forgets how tall those inlines can be.

Anyhow, look forward to seeing more,
    Cheers,

  8. You should start a build diary over on Landracing.com. Lots of veterans there to bounce ideas off of!

  9. yep, as per Tman, go to the build diary section and make the effort, lots of experienced and passionate racers

did you have any photo's with race engine in place for refference?

    Cheers,

Good so see that we've got so many new cars in the works.... especially lakesters and especially tanks.

I do new car inspections out on the salt and I try to keep an eye out for these new builds. I see you've got your mock-up cranium in place. Any chance you could hop in and have someone snap some pics?

I don't know if Don has another blank, however; you may contact him at 310-462-2962....

I bought the 4-bolt mains from Joe Fontana, who is just a "great guy"........

Well, slight progress during the last few weeks, however; the tank almost fits the frame. More trimming and flanges to be added to hold the body to the frame.

The cut out on the drivers side is for the 5 deuce Howard Intake and header exiting the tank.

The hole below the push bar, the good ole' parachute, which fits inside of the body.

    Looks great Neil.

  24. Getting closer. Thanks for the updates.

  25. Looks good! Keep on going, time is running out, I feel it too. ;)

  26. hell Tim, all I am doing is camping and observing this year and time seems short. Yesterdays report 6" of water on the lakebed.

  27. I am a little behind on the Uni. but it's still possable. I sent in my registration form and $400 two weeks ago so if I can't field an entry I will be there to get my money back. ;) That water can soak up and evaporate pretty quick too so don't call it off yet.

Yes the build will be right down to the wire. Sure hope I get everything completed in time. I don't care about the paint at this point.
