Projects Before & After

  1. Before: 225/75/15 Fisk Edition Discount Tire El Cheapo radials

After: 6.70x15 BFG Silvertown 2.5" WW bias plies

The H.A.M.B. has had an effect on my tire choice in a positive way. She is just about the most beautiful car I've ever seen with the wide whites. Drives nice too.

No doubt about it, it looks much better with the wide whites.

I love the two-tone paint, too.

That's the right tire for your '56. Big change for the better. Beautiful car.

  12. That's a sharp lookin' car! I like it.

  13. Thanks! Her name is Pearl.

Had her since March of 1994. She's been in my family since new. I'm the fourth generation to own her.

She is my pride and joy.

64,500 original miles, 235 and a glide, some bondo and rust, originally all turqouise but got the two tone way before my time.

Original engine, interior and differential. Trans rebuilt once. Front end rebuilt completely, complete Praise Dyno Brake "brake in a box" kit all the way around and some stiff KYB shocks.

    She drives really, really nice.

There is always talk about how crappy the ole bias' tires ride. Once I put my bias ply back on my 61 chevy it was like night and day. Totally happy with the ride, way better.(although I will say I was caught on the freeway in a CRAZY rain storm once. and with my by's on it really gave new meaning to calling my car a boat!) I always day dream about how the suspension on these ole cars were designed for bias ply's. So they HAVE to be the best ride. I really doubt that my thought on the subject can "hold any water"... I digress, Beautiful car. KEEP then bias ply's on the road!

  24. I like that one. Just noticed its a 6 cly.

  25. No apologies needed. You efforts are appreciated. I was thinking last night as I went to bed that I needed to photoshop a lowering job. Didn't think about a haircut too.

I woke up to email alerts of replies to my thread and, viola, you did what I wanted done and more.

    Thanks!

No problem. The 56 is my fav year. IMO, I wouldn't chop it, just a slight lowering is all I would do. I was oh-so-close to buying a yellow '56 in Redondo beach in '93, but the dealership did not want to budge on the price. It had a very cool "California" front bumper on it. It was thin & I've yet to see another one.

I like the w/w tires, but I also really dig the all business look of blackwalls...

  28. Me too. Looking for a set of 15x7 black steelies to put some 235/70/15 blackwalls on with some 41 Chevy baby moon caps. That will be my second set for swap out purposes.

  29. A 28" tall tire will look good. You cant see it on the avatar but i have 15x7 with 255/70/15 with stock dog caps.
