thanks again guys for all your great coments.

Roadkill, the Tbird's gonna look great too. Most of the totrods over here are '34 roadsters with a couple of other styles like a real nice '57 drag car, but not seen anything like the Tbird before.

I'll post more pics as things get done but for a while I'l be sorting some of the detail, things like foot pedals and the drive train so not much to look at.

All of you guys who are saying you won't show us your own totrods because they don't match up to this one, hell just show them, we all have different levels of skill, never be ashamed of what you achieve, and the kids don't care how good it is just as long as it's theirs and they can ride in them.

    Hi gents...

I'm just found this forum, and I'm just amazed by the quality of your work... Nutrocker, your (well, your daughter's!) dragster is just pure genius! Wow!
Roadkill, I love this TBird shell... Can't wait to see it on wheels!

On my side, as a VW enthousiast (sorry mates!), I'm working a a 1/3 scale replica of my VW Thing... But as I don't have any children, this will be for my own use. :D

Don't wanna be a stick in the mud, but I would like to see some head protection while she's driving at any speed. Seat belts??

I agree with you to a point, so it will have seat belts fitted and she'll prob only get it flat out while on the drag strip ( they allow totrods to run at some meetings) where she'll be wearing a helmet any way. But I don't want to spoil the fun, so will see how it plays out.

Most of the time she drives it she won't be able to run it much faster than 20 mph (ish) and I'll prob put some kind of limiter on the throttle pedal or carb anyway until she's got some time in it.

I was watching her in it the other day and looking to see what would happen in the event of her hitting something or turning it over. There's a couple of areas that I will make some changes anyway.

From a chap with a kart background your better to allow them to fall out in the event of a roll over than keep em pinned in a kart landing on you hurts but taking a impact threw the spine hurts alot more

p.s you should have a pm

That's why I like the Junior cars that I deal with.
Unless you are a freak of nature like myself (6'6" 350+) you can fit in them as an adult. Here is my 6'4" nephew driving my old 67 gas powered Mustang JR.
His feet are clear out by the grille and his butt is just ahead of the rear axle.
Here are a couple of videos of adults using them.

I hope to design a frame to use under the fiberglass bodies I make this summer and have taken some ideas from this thread including the powertrain he is using on his daughters since they have built in transmissions and some even have reverse.

[IMG]I think I'll just plagiarise this steering box mount idea ...so clean and simple it's just what I have been trying to nut out myself and getting no where all month. With the plethora of cheaP and nast chinese motor bikes flooding OZ lately these types of engines are becomming common and affordable.
    Cheers!!!
