I put the Econoline on hold for a bit so I could get a bedroom set made for the kid. He is growing so fast, if I don't get it done soon, he will outgrow it, the Econoline is not going anywhere.

Found a local guy who had a trailer made out of a 1950s Ford Bed.

Took the bed sides off and narrowed the header and tailgate about 12 inches. I cut the rims and tires that came on the trailer in half to fit into the fender when the bed sits on the ground.

I put the header and the tailgate back on, and was able the keep all the Ford Script even with narrowing 12 inches.

Welded some angle iron for the bed frame, and put the mattress and blankets on for a test drive. Bed is ready, now just a sanding job, and a shot of Satin Clear, and she will go into his room.

Started framing out the garage in his room. Wired in lights for each side of the garage, and will do shingles on the peak. Put a dimmer switch right on the pillar so he can turn the lights on and off. Gonna build the lights out of 32 Ford headlights. Gonna use faux brick on the sides of the garage. Right now I have headlight bezels from a late 50's Desoto Firedome, but I don't like the look.

The son that I am building the 56 Ford Bed for is 4 years old. My other son, who is 2, had to have one, so we got him a bed off a 1946 Chevy. Starting the Ford vs Chevy fight early!

Cut the front half of that Chevy fender off, hinge the piece back on from the inside and make a little storage cubby out of it. You can also raise the bed and allow the tailgates to go down and have storage under the bed...or even a cool little fort/hideout space. Would also be cool to have a piece of plywood raise and lower (onto the bed rails) from the ceiling with a racetrack or trainset on it. You could make the taillights actually work for night lights. The stake pockets could be used to support the piece of plywood, or even as a poster style bed.

All very cool ideas. My very first idea was to have it on air ride. I was gonna plumb air down to the basement and have a compressor down there. Then all I could picture was his little brother sticking his head under the bed as he dumped it, and I would be in big trouble with MAMA. I thought about making an inside frame with sheet metal so there was no way to get stuck in there, but then there would be the fenders. Not worth the risk. He can use his air ride on his bike and Kadillac Pedal car.

So if one kid sleepes in a '50 Ford Bed, another one in '46 Chevy.

What do you sleep in? A '59 El Camino?

Please don't answer; I sleep in the nude! That is not the right answer!

I bought a front clip off a 1958 Desoto Firedome, and a rear clip off a 1959 Caddy, wife said NO WAY. So the Cadillac couch went into the attic, and the front clip is still sitting in the yard, I think you can see it in some of the pics....Thomasville for the master, best I could do....
