Does anyone have a Bear fiberglass body? Are they any good? Any help in this area will help THANKS!!!!
I don't know that brand but just a heads up. You might want to do an intro before you get ripped by somebody... Don't say you were not warned.....
The 32 3-window body they made when they were in Kelowna, BC. Canada was a very nice body. I think he originally owned Superior glassworks in Washington or Oregon. Last I heard he had relocated to Arizona. Maybe contact Bill or Neil Lemon at B&N Hotrods in Maple Ridge, British Columbia, Canada as they were a distributor for Bear and also built some. Pat
did you look before typing? : http://jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=778013 I,ve wanted to join the HAMB for a long time now. I have been real busy working on my 1929 ford roaster. Put in new seats, made a new steering column, moon tack, door panels, stainless exhaust. and alum side pans with louvers. plus a new model T gas tank just arrived today from the THE HOT ROD SHOP. Hope to have it done this coming summer. However it sur is fun working on it. Doing it all your self is what HOT RODDING is all about.
The guy who used to own Bear in Kelowna ripped me off for $500, i do not think he owns the company anymore, he even tried to get the bus company to lie to me, i talked to the guy from B&N hotrods and he was not suprised i got ripped off, but the bodies did look pretty nice, if that looser is still involved do not give him a cent up front because you will never see it again.
Fiberglass is as traditional as Ed Roth and the Corvette ,Henry Ford,are.....-all made one from "glass"[ Henrys in 1939 with-soy based composite]...... so carry on with the "traditionallly correct" discussion,please...... I have three of them myself,.........so I am interested in the comments therein.
had to stop and read the thread to see how many fiberglass bears were going to show up 2 so far lol , good to know i wont be let down , hope this doesnt become unbearable to read ,
JW Rod Garage bought the "Bear Fiberglass" molds, and now sells their body's. They are located in Wisconsin.
I think I did. Also NICE BEAR . Was that from one of the previous Victoria Deuce Days? Forum: New to the H.A.M.B.? Introduce yourself here! 02-16-2013, 11:51 AM
I was just at J&W in Belgium Wisconsin on Fri morning, who also own bear fiberglass. A friend and me went up there to check out their frames and chassis parts. They gave us a tour and were really accomidating to all our questions. I am not an expert but what I saw seemed pretty nice. They had a body on a frame set up to be picked up and the fit and finish looked good.
Just came across this thread and thought I'd add to it... hopefully the info is useful to someone. It's a Bear body cut in half www.welderseries.com/2009/04/32-update-old-news/
Built this one and it is a Bear body really nice and thick and heavy very good job done ! As it has been said he was from Canada and move to Prescott Az. but got ran out of town as he screwed people and the business was shut down !
Their website is dead and the name up for sale. There's a press release from 2005 about them moving to Prescott,AZ and the address has a Suite Number-which always makes me suspicious. I think until someone from Bear shows up alive we are stuck with this old, rather useless, thread and Winnie-the Pooh. Nice cut-a-way photo, though.
That is a great picture as the body for a glass car are really good ! They all have there issues but in all it is good !
I don't see anything on the JW Rod Garage website regarding bodies, yet. I did buy some suspension parts from them and they were pretty nice-although I got two of the same side-not too hard to reverse one to get R and L. I'd buy again.
