The Bean Bandits will be hosting a reunion and celebration of life for founder Joaquin Arnett on November 6 from 2pm to 6pm. It will be held at 34 E. 17th St. National City, Ca. 91950 The club will have race cars and memorabilia on display. There is no charge for this event but we will be accepting donations for food and drinks. Plenty of parking will be available, so anyone wanting to bring out their Hot Rod or Custom are more than welcome to. This is a public event and anyone interested is welcome to attend. Come out and show his family your support and that he will be remembered!
That's really cool. I'm sure he's looking down with a big smile on his face. Bean Bandit's is one of the Coolest clubs around with so much history and purpose behind it. I know their body of work really serves as a guideline for many club around the world....and I'd assume that Joaquin Arnett had a big hand in that. I'd go if I could!
I'd love to be there to pay tribute to a hot rod pioneer but life gets in the way........ Pomona - April 27, 1952 L-R: Carlos Ramirez; Mike Magem; and Joaquin Arnett. Modified roadster held top speed of the day at 118 mph.
Man I wish I could be there to attend...Bean Bandits are great people...never had the pleasure of meeting Joaquin...Joaquin and the Bean Bandits are part of the foundation upon which this hobby is built
It's this coming Saturday folks. Come on out and celebrate the life of a true hot rod and racing pioneer.
mike, see you tomorrow. a few of the north county guys are going to head down after the aces reliability run, we might be a little late but we'll be there. rip joaq
I'll be there in spirit. Met Joaquin on the salt one day and we talked for a long time (he had a lot to say on many topics - all good). I left that day, feeling a little more connected to hot rodding's history. Then last year, some of the younger Bandits were staying at the same motel as us in Wendover and we hit it off, too. When I saw the scene in their pit over that week, I was blown away! The future of rodding is in good hands with these guys. Joaquin would be very proud. Scotty
