any money to spend on a vehicle ?
    be honest about it.

This post is more of a curiousity thing than anything else.

If a car or truck came along for $ 5,000.-$10,000-$15,000
how many could go the piggy bank and roll the cash out ?

Noticed lots of WTT's but not many cash sales.

Are there that many guys that broke ?

( Please note that I also want to mention that it is cool to barder shit)

    just curious to see replies.

This is a traditional board....which means we are all broke.....and which also means we have to learn so we can build the car ourselves.

Cool... your question just caught me off guard and before coffee.

Seems like here in Raleigh EVERYONE wants a piece of your ass. You could be standing in line at Taco Bell and some total stranger wants to shake your hand and then get your name... ask what you do for a living... and then tell you about "a business opportunity". Then there's my neighbor... wants to go mountain biking and start palling around. Tells me he is a financial planner and would like to work up some investment strategies for me. I tell him "thanks for the offer, but I prefer not to talk finances with neighbors". Now the guy never even says hello.

I'm not implying that your question was an attempt to "glean financial information" from the board, but Jesus, would you be standing around a buddy's garage, popping a cold one and ask "hey, how much money do each of you guys have in the bank for a car?" For me, that sort of information falls into the "need to know" category. And most folks don't need to know or care to know. Unless you're my neighbor or the asshole at Taco Bell.

I am proud that I do not use any household money for my toys.

All my money gets eaten by the mouths of my children. Not literally, but I do have a 2 yr old that always has a hankering for eating paper. So unless my daughter finds a way to eat a dollar and poop a $20 its scrounging and rustling for me.

That info is no one elses bussiness. That's really kind of a rude question to ask.

It reminds me of a couple of weeks ago. I was sitting in my '29 Woody outside a resteraunt waiting for some freinds to show up, when a little 4 door econo box parked next to me. A young hip hop lookin' guy gets out of the passenger side, his wife gets out of the driver door and their 4-5 year old daughter gets out of the back. The first words out of young homie's mouth are "How much money you got in that?" I replied " None of your bussiness." As he and his family walked into the resteraunt, I heard him mumble "Smartass" under his breath. I just let that go, who needs to get into a hassle over something that stupid? The funny/sad thing is, I really think this kid had no idea just how rude it was to ask that question, espescially right off the bat to a total stranger.

Fuck you, cocksucker. You weren't even here during the "old days" of the HAMB, fucking newbie. If you were, and not some kind of jump on the bandwagon poser, you'd know that nobody would've asked that shit back then. And if you did, they would've handed you your ass.

    It's fucking rude.

    I guess I'm rude then.
    But only to strangers !
My car buddies crack beers and shoot the shit and laugh at the cars we have, the cars we would like to have and the money we have and the money we don't have !

I'm glad you guys have spoken up and replied.
For those who are having fun with it.
    Thanks.
For those of you who take this shit personally,
Relax and go read some posts from 3 years ago.
    I'm getting old I guess.

Don't even get me started on the ice cream truck! I got jacked the other day by that crack smoker! Somehow it cost $10 for 2 powerpuff girl ice creams. Friggin Hell! I didn't see that one coming when I said "sounds like the ice cream truck girls, lets see what they have." Well what they had was a loan officer taking credit on my kidneys to sell on the black market!

What happened to the good old days when the ice cream was real and reasonably priced, and you knew to stay away from the ice cream trucks with hubcaps.

    Well not really. And
IF I did have some money in the bank I really wouldn't discuss in a public forum.

As far as how much money, I didn't mean total.
meant play money. Ya know CAR funds.

    No Problem.
I have my family budget/ finances/retirement goals, which I try not to touch.
    5K - Ok
anything after that would be hell to pay from the wife.
My son eats most of our money.

I do have a truck I am selling, but too knew to post in classifieds.
    94 Slammed Chevy.

    Anyway.

If I had that kind of money that is what it would be spent on.

But I like your idea of bartering.
