Avatar Willy's, 454, BDS 671, BDS Trans pressure diversion valve, Turbo 400. Every now and than when the trans shifts up it seems to free wheel a bit. The shifter is a Lokar and I would like to keep it and have the same shift pattern, can't this 400 be converted to full manual shift and keep the same shift pattern?
    Thanks!

Thanks I will look that up!
Can this be done by an illiterate auto tranny guy like me just by dropping pan?

You will have to drop the pan, valve body and remove the governor for modifications.

I have one of their manual valve body conversions in the 400 behind my blown 427, it works great. Normal forward shift pattern.

I don't get the need for the diversion valve myself. Always just hooked the modulator directly to unported vacuum directly one carb base and never a trans issue.

On an earlier setup, I had the BDS valve, and modified it so it would get manifold vacuum when it was not under boost, and atmospheric pressure when it was under boost. It worked ok, although with the really tall gearing I had, it did shift kind of soft.

Just get the 1&2 kit, it offers the manual shift option.

I think either would work. If your transmission has a plastic accumulator piston, the PRO kit would replace that with an aluminum, and it also provides more springs to play with shift feel.. I think the normal -3 kit is all you really need, though.

As far as "which one for the street", they are both designed for racing, but you can drive them on the street. I don't really see a difference in the two kits, from this perspective.
