Well, after 10 years of owning a shop, I finally have a "shop truck". Got it off the HAMB last week and I have been working every night this week and today. I found an old Arkansas tag under the Colorado tag from 78 and it is State truck orange under the green paint. Plans are to lower it a little, fix the rust, make some wood side boards with the shop name on them, and drive it. It is not quite as nice as it appears in these pics. Rust in both cab corners, drivers floor board rusted, kick panels rusted and rust in the lower front of cab. The paint job is at least 25 years old and peeling to the orange in places. Not a great paint job but just right for this application. Did the brakes this week and polished off a ton of overspray! Drove it today. need to do something about the performance. Ha Ha
Thats a great truck and perfect for a shop truck. Wish i had another. Mine was a 48, that i sold years ago.
Now that's a Shop Truck! I can picture it with a Canvas Safari top over the bed with the sides rolled up towing a car out on the Bonneville Salt flats... p.s. ... who's the clown in your shop taking the photo of the other side?
Clown? Least I ain't wearin gold pants. (although the truck is kinda a green gold) Thanks for the comments! I don't know why but a 302 gmc is on my mind.
Looks good Keller. I just hope that's not takin' funds away from the "409 project". That wife of yours might get a little bent. HA
wow looks like a good old truck. usual rust in corners but overall a nice looking shop truck, very cool! you going to chrome the grill or keep it the same color?
Yea, a bit more rust and a few more mechanical issues than listed In case some guy in a hot rod wheel standing model a comes to town! Innitally she hated the truck, now cleaned up she has named it "pops" Yes, it is an authentic state of kansas tag. I have a few others I will post a pic of. I like the grill painted. The 54 first series 55 were the only ones that had this grill. Some hate it. I have grown to love it after finishing this 54 truck in the photo below for a customer. They look great chromed but as my brother in law pointed out, I need to conserve all the $$ for my wifes 33 roadster or I am in deep $#@t Thanks for all the positive comments guys!
Mike, just to keep peace between you and the little woman at home, I will make a sacrifice and buy the truck from you, at a loss of course! It looks great and Im sure it will make a GREAT Goldchainer car club hauler! Oh, I guess you did say it was a SHOP truck, I guess it will fill multiple needs if you dont sell it to me. Keep working on the truck, as I expect it to be in 100% perfect condition when you sell it to me, at a HUGE loss of course. Just trying to help you out buddy!
Wanna sell one? ...actually I only own one now, the dark green one, built the middle one a few years back ; sold it to a good friend, and the GMC belongs to a club member,...he came over for a visit a few years ago and I just had to get this photo. ...thanks for askin tho. ...got a Ford I put together I'd sell ya tho...(sorry, didn't mean to hijack yer thread)
I will put you first in line! Thanks for the "help" Ha Ha Nice! What is your combo for the stance, if I might ask?
Nice! What is your combo for the stance, if I might ask? ...all 3 are clipped, 65 & 71 & 78 Malibu front clips. ...rear end on stock leafs with lowering blocks.
