Bad Bob, I see that you took some pics of a 1951 Mercury, Rudy's? What lower trim is being used for this rear window please?
I have the stock chrome for the '51 rear window, but I'm digging this thinner custom setup too. Might be some sort of chrome-look edge guard?
Looks good. Gives the rear window a "lighter" look.I would like to see a close up of how the corners fit together.
Yes, I like the lighter look too. Plus I'm horrified by the prospect of drilling holes in my paint for the lower trim piece.
I like the looks of that too. Many times when 51 rear glass is laid down, it makes the corner of the fat trim at the bottom look like it is set at a weird angle that conflicts with the flow of everything else. But with that thin trim at the bottom it makes that odd corner angle much less obvious.
It looks like that rubber that has the locking flexible chrome trim in it. I'm almost 100% certain that's what it is.
Totally agree!! That is the one thing I have always hated on '51's that use the original rear glass when chopped. It is especially noticable from a profile view every thing is flowing so nicely down the side of the car and then BAM this pointy piece of trim on the rear window screws the whole thing up.
I'm digging the vintage 2005/06? Dreadman, Bad Bob pic. Dreadman, clearly doesnt understand, what Bob is talking about. Another case of information overload
I'd have to say amen to that. Having had a 51 that wide stock band probably wouldn't look as clean as that thinner band. I hate to see anyone drill holes around fresh paint John. Those cuttings have a way of burning into the paint when they land on fresh paint.
Very rarely someone does something small and different on an old classic that really turns it around. That window trim IMO is one of them, I love that.
I'd like to do this on my car. Matt, I got a bunch of the chrome trim stuff from your guy for the side windows, do you think they have this stuff too, bigger/wider stuff?
